People here in the U.S. are spoiled brats.
There is nothing wrong with a QWERTY with a small touchscreen.
Choice is a fundamental right and should not be restricted just because a majority believes a product should be catered to their wants whims.
It could be offered as a pre-pay phone option in the U.S. or by a smaller carrier.
