It is a Google phone built by Samsung which has absolutely no Samsung modifications whatever....you can;t use Kies with it if you wanted to because the Samsung software isn't on the phone.
This is straight, plain vanilla Ice Cream Sandwich (pun intended), it has Google's software and absolutely nothing else.
And yes, Nexus devices get updates OTA.
