Actually,
In one post he stated "Cingular is destined to remain Number 2".
In another, he stated that cingular would inherit ATT's terrible churn rate and subscriber losses.

That's not exactly saying "cingular is a failure", but if Cingular were to remain #2 after the merger, and lose subscribers like the guy said, then that would be considered a "failure". He was wrong on both counts.
