Preorders have their phones already

I got my 32GB SIII in the mail today. I think most people got their 16GB models in last Thursday, the day the phone was supposed to be released at retail.

I'm a bit surprised that the 32GB model won't be sold in stores, since the low price difference between 16GB and 32GB models should be an easy sell. But I guess Samsung just isn't making enough of them at this point.

I think people who don't go for the 32 GB model are really making a mistake. The device supports SDXC, so it can take the 64 gb sd card. That means you potentially have a 96 gigabyte phone, and who the hell can say no to that? Not only could I fit every single song that I have on my computer onto that phone (About 30 gigabytes) I could also fit the entire series (not an entire season, the WHOLE SERIES) of Enterprise, a few full lengh movies, and still have like... 15 - 20 gigabytes available for apps. Who even needs a desktop computer anymore ?

Most people do not fall into the same category as yourself and people like you.

Most are pretty casual, in the sense they put music and pictures on their phones - and maybe a video or two. They don't usually load the entire thing up with seasons of shows and movies.

Progressively we're seeing people shift, but at this moment, I don't think it's happening fast enough.

Also, why don't you just buy multiple SD cards with specific content, then just swap them when needed? Technically, you can have limitless amounts of data. I'll have to check, but I think you could literally just toss the spare SD cards in the battery compartment of the S III. I'll have to check if the clearance is enough to fit cards loosely sitting back there...

Would the "multiple" SD cards be cheaper than the $50 premium for the phone???? It certanially would be more hassel I would think.

Depends - the $50 only buys you a 16 GB difference.

Depending on the outlet you choose, you can buy (2) 32GB SD cards for that - and still have money left over.

So it really depends on what you consider a hassle.....

I have an odd question. I want to order the 32GB model and according to the report they are available on July 1st but I'll be traveleling up north just after the 4th of July and arrive around the 7th. There isn't enough shipping time to receive it before the 4th (I presume) and will need to have it shipped to my Northern home.

This means it could arrive a day or two before me. If they ship U.S. Postal I have that covered in "Hold Mail." If they ship UPS or FEDEx that could cause a delivery when I'm not there.

THE QUESTION: What carrier delivered your phone. U.S. Postal, FedEx, UPS or another?

UPS shipped mine. You may be able to defer delivery (or something like that) via their My Choice service.

Also, my phone was shipped overnight. Not sure if they'll do that for phones arriving 7/1, but they might.

Also, see if UPS handles off their mail to your local USPS.

I know for me, my UPS driver actually delivers everything to our post office, then it's delivered like normal.

Call your post office and see if they have an agreement setup like that with UPS.
