How are they announcing a spectrum swap for spectrum they will never be allowed to acquire?

They'really probably thinking a deal with a smaller
carrier will help them gain FCC approval.

T-Mobile really isn't that much smaller. I see your thinking, but I'm just thinking that Verizon thinks if they can be seen as helping somebody else out, that might sway the FCC to allow this swap.

What I'm also wondering is why T-Mobile would agree to a spectrum swap when the other party doesnt even have the spectrum right now that they propose to swap. And they may never have it. not much forward thinking here on either carriers parts.

😕 Really? I hope you don't really think that.

Why wouldn't I ?

Look at the facts of this "agreement:"

Verizon is looking to swap away spectrum that it doesnt even have yet, and T-Mobile is accepting spectrum from another carrier that doesnt even have that spectrum to give.

Tell me - where do you see forward thinking there ?
There is none. If Verizon thinks that this deal will sway the FCC to allow them to take those AWS licences from the smaller cable companies, I think they may be wrong.
Based on that, this spectrum swap will never even happen.

Plus as far as Big red sees it they're giving away more than what they're getting in spectrumand it helps the "little guy" with its LTE launch Gee Verizon sure is nice I bet they only agreed to this swap because they are just so nice
