Apple has filed a claim against our own star, the Sun, stating that the sun is abusing its nuclear fusion patents and failure to offer Super, Uninterupted, and Non-Nuclear Yield (SUNNY) licensing terms. This particular action is in response to a claim that when an apple employee looks at the sun, as quoted, "It's just too damn bright".

In Apple's filing, it says the sun used orbital trickery to appear less bright at certain times, however still outputing the same amount of light and still causing damaging effects to the eyes and skin. Apple states this is not in compliance with SUNNY.

The Sun joins The Moon, and Finland in the short list of entities accused of abusing standards essential patents. Finland was added to the lawsuit be...

Well, Mr. Smartypants, could you please explain why Apple is suing over a patent concerning LTE/4G when they have yet to manufacture a LTE phone, let alone a 4G one.

I am not defending Apple here but you do realize that they sell a 4G LTE iPad right?

...and I guess that could relate to their current suit.

Still, though--they're awfully litigious for a company who didn't start manufacturing phones until 2007.

As a consumer I find it ridiculous and funny how much they sue. It makes them look bad and I would never purchase one of their products based on the closed platform they opt to go with.

From a business standpoint I say why not. They have the free cash flow to do it and it puts the other manufacturers in a position to either spend money fighting in court to have it either tossed out or eventually make a deal with the devil.

Either way Apple wins.

They know they are not going to lose any die hard users over it. I hate the term "fan boy" Just because you like a certain manufacturer.

I definitely respect their ability to make mountains of cash--but their closed ecosystem comb...

Uh NO!....Again..I am not defending Apple here. Why do people still talk like they are in grade school?

I am referring to the LTE iPad that runs on Verizon Wireless's LTE Network.

Good God! Please do a little research before looking like an ass! Just because you "hate" a company does not mean you have to go on a rampage!

He's a troll. Only appears whenever theres a story about Apple or whatever else he feels that will ruffle some feathers. After it's all over he goes back in his cage aka mom's basement never to be heard from on this site for weeks until another Apple story emerges. He pulls the same crap on other forums and has been banned on occasions. It's like when people see fire from away they have the need to add fuel.

-_-. Apple used to be a winning team. The focus is on used to be. If you haven't caught on yet, they are drowning. They have spent too much time relying on fanboys who worship them instead of pushing forward. If their incremental updates (hardware and software) hasn't alerted you to their inevitable downfall, then you'd probably have stayed on the Titanic as it was sinking as well.

The reason they are suing isn't to protect their R&D as you claim, but to hang on to what minor lead they have left.

R&D? Really? One of their suits against HTC or Samsung is that the screen is used for both input and output. Really? So they own the patent on touch screens? Another is that you can't use a computing device (chip) to run algorithms ...
