If Verizon enabled file transfer with bluetooth, people could and would rip verizon off. Verizon offers it's GETITNOW services for ringtones and games and wallpapers. If file sharing through bluetooth was enabled, that would give one customer full freedom to pay for a download, and send them to as many other customers that he or she wants, instead of everyone purchasing it if they want it. Its just like me buying computer software, and making a copy for my buddy, instead of him buying his own. It would hurt the software company, and its illegal. Yes people burn illegal copies all the time, but is it really fair? All customers may not go to get it now and buy a ringer, or game, and send it to others, but I guarantee you that majority of...

If there were other choices then you would be right. With competition comes lower prices. When Verizon dictates who you can go to then that is where the problem is. There are lots of other companies offering games, ringtones etc, but can't be downloaded to a verizon phone.

Account notes will be subpoenaed and when the notes show that customers were told the problem would be fixed, then Verizon will probably lose a few cusomers and get pinched by the courts.

You'll never find anything close to "advised customer that a software upgrade will soon be available for his V710" listed in the notes on an account... ever... notes on accnts aren't that specific unless they deal with the math behind a credit or transaction... like "issued 10% discount for 7 mo as foll: 39.99 * 10% = $4 * 7 = $28" other than that it might say "assisted cust with phone" or something along those lines...

That's odd, because I have read account notes before that were more than just math equations. Regardless if there are notes of that nature or not, most of those customers are going to testify to the fact that they were told by Verizon reps and Motorola that the issue would be fixed. Or that they were told by the store that the phone could use the feature.

That's hearsay it'll never get in.... and what I was referring to was specific notations regarding a software upgrade for the V710. an OBEX sorftware upgrade for the v710. You think that'll be noted in an account??? even if "software upgrade" is noted, upgrades become available all the time...

I think you will be surprised at how much e-mail traffic from Verizon Wireless and Motorola (Yes, I know they were not named in the suit but what they told customers is still relevant to the case) the plaintiffs show up in court with.

The updates on Call Usage (#min) and data usage (#data) update on a regular basis. This update can be more frequent, but it is highly based on usage volume of each feature. Also the frequency of the update can be effected by your location, some towers take longer to process the usage. A general rule of thumb though, is that the more you use it, the more up-to-date it will be. This is the same for both over-the-air and on the website.

Like I said, also depends on the area your in while using it, the towers have to relay the information on your usage, which is effected by terrain, distance, etc. The #data features is usually a little slower to transfer than the min usage.

Im a sprint customer..and have the LG bluetooth slider phone..so Iknow why you disable BT" makes tons of money. It makes perfect sense to disable the file trasfer stuff for revenue...buts its how they go about doin it..that people get mad about. Say if every rep sold the phone and said that part of bluetooth didnt work the way a REAL bluetooth phone works, you might think twice about buying it.

Its not what you sell..its about how you sell it.

VZW's excuse actually makes sense when they said it was because of agreements with BREW. If OBEX was enabled then people would be able to beam games back and forth. But since its not they gave us the TFlash card slot and made it so only ringtones, pics and movies could be moved. Makes sense to me...

And that would require ALL of these people to pay $300 for the phone first. Verizon still wins.

Wins?!? Verizon makes a killing off of Get-It-Now, like it or not (I know I don't). $300 is a miniscule amount (little of which is profit, I'm sure, BTW) compared to the possible amount of revenue lost from ring tones, games, wallpapers, etc.

I know but as we were discussing before in another post (I think) 42 million people are not running out to buy this phone. If 1/2 of them did the miniscule profit all of a sudden sounds big to me.

so bluetooth could possibly be used for illegal file transfers, so it's evil and should be shut down? HELLO! you are on the internet! there is massive potential for fraud with your web browser, mouse, pc, laptop, phone line etc. you better turn them all in now!

first off, i am tied to Verizon so i can't switch.

the appeal of the BT features (to me) is the wireless transfer of schedules/phonebooks from my desktop to the phone. i also like all the features the Sony/Ericson BT phones can do with Mac OS X. if your phone is in range the computer will work as Caller ID displaying the info from your computer's phonebook. the computer can also make or answer calls. the phone can be used as a remote for almost any application (powerpoint, iTun...
