Verizon should be shut down, but this is a good start.

If you saw: "use bluetooth to connect your phone to your PC or PDA"

... and knew that almost all other BT phones could send files back and forth over BT.....

What would you assume?

Verizon is the crooks of the wireless industry. From locking people out of their own phones with BREW ("Screw You Now" Services... that offer no benefit to the consumer over Java) , to lying about their service "America's Best Network" , I hope Verizon gets their rear handed to them on a golden platter.

Thats the problem...people assumed. No one should ever assume. Your keywords were "almost all other BT phones..." Exactly, not every bluetooth phone has the OBEX profile. For instance, T-Mobile's Blackberry 7100t does not have the ability to transfer files. Do you see a headline that reads, "Customers angry because phone wont transfer files." No, again this brings me back to my point that there are choices out there. Dont wanna use get it now? Fine buy a phone that doesnt have it. VZW also never said that they have the best network. They said they hvae the largest network and ,yes, that includes the analog areas. And Cingular says they have the largest DIGITAL network.

Except the Blackberry wasn't disabled for the sole purpose of forcing customers to use proprietary services- a major difference.

Largest network doesn't = best network.

But it was still disabled!!!! And I didnt say the largest network = the best network. You said that VZW claims to have the best network. I said that they never said that but they said that they ahve the largest network.

Ill be honest and say I have never seen them advertise as having the "best network." If you can show me something where they say that then you got me cornered with a foot in my mouth.

I'm not trying to bust your balls, but they do advertise "America's Best Network" and in my experience that is hard statement for anyone to back up on a national level.

I agree, largest network, doesn't equal best network.

VzW does, however make claims to the best network, and they explain why...

"...available on the nation’s best wireless voice and data network. The company’s ‘most reliable network’ claim is based on network studies performed by real-life test men and test women who inspired the company’s national advertising campaign. The engineers conduct more than 300,000 call attempts monthly on Verizon Wireless’ and other national wireless carriers’ networks while traveling ...

They sure do travel alot (according to you) and with the price of gas, I guess they had to get some extra $$$ from somewhere to pay for that..thats why they crippled the phone and make people pay for extra things to get the cash they needed to buy gas so they can ride around saying "Can you hear me now?"

According to most of the argument going on around here you're supposed to ASSUME if it has Bluetooth that it can connect to your PC or PDA. Which way is it guys? Its one way for the underdog and one way for the big dog, now I get it.

🤣 good catch trevor, now you see whats really going on. This is just people venting their anger towards Verizon in any means possible. I don't blame them, but com'on, contradictions in your statements ruin your claim.

Which part of my statement was contradictory?

Both RIM and TMobile advertise the 7100t to use bluetooth for a headset/hands free.

Motorola says you can use bluetooth to connect to your PC (with OBEX allowed). Verizon says the same thing sort of but has disable OBEX.

What am I missing? Why is TMobile/RIM even in this discussion?

Well...

If you say that most people assume that if an ad says "Can connect to your PC anytime, anywhere", then it can transfer files.

Then that means that most people should also assume that if the ad says "Phone is a Bluetooth phone" then the phone should be able to connect to your PC.

So why do people not say "I assumed my T-mobile phone can connect to my pc 'cause it said it had bluetooth."? Because everyone's looking for a reason to bash Verizon. (not that there are not enough other reasons out there).

Well...

The specs for the 7100 from RIM (http://www.blackberry.com/blackberry7100/spe cs.shtml) say "Bluetooth hands-free headset and car kit profiles supported" and that is all and that is exactly how the 7100t from TMobile, 7100v from Vodafone and the 7100r from Rogers Mobile are implemented (and advertised). Versus Motorola (http://www.motorola.com/mdirect/hellomoto/ex perience/v710/html/full_specs.shtml?) which has comments like "Connectivity via Bluetooth® and CE bus" and has to create different versions of the phone for Verizon, Alltel, US Cellular, etc.

Seems to me like Tmobile is giving you what RIM created versus Verizon which is changing things without being upfront about them. I have no issue with them deciding not to incl...

I think it's... when you make an assumption, you make an "ass" out of "u", and "mption."

And if he did he wouldn't buy the phone. Doesn't mean it's okay for Verizon to be shady in their advertising and just blame the buyer.

Actually, Verizon does have industry-leading ineffective call attempt percentages, and industry-leading dropped call percentages. Cingular is a close second. Sprint is up there. Nextel and ATT are abysmal, pretty much. Widest coverage + least dropped calls + least ineffective attempts = Best, most reliable wireless network, in my book at least.

This thread kind of reminds me of the Pac-10 conference in the early 1990's. The entire conference could not compete with the Washington Huskies and so they trumped up a charge to put them on probation.
Shortly after that there were t-shirts in Seattle that read "Pac-9, If you can't compete disqualify them." If these carriers can't compete they trump up some crap about a minor league technology called Bluetooth.
Big stinking deal. Most customers don't really care about Bluetooth. They care about a reliable network that will carry their call.
99% of all wireless customers don't even care enough about the wireless industry to post on forums like this so it leaves us geeks.
They care about making a call when and where they need to. For t...
