right but they're keeping hspa+42 for 1900 like Tofuchong said, so they can still use the tech to speed up their network and improve battery life for they're non LTE phones.. which is all of them at this point
I dont know how much it would cost for them to update their network to HSPA+ 84.4, but T-Mobile has always had something that sets them apart from the other major carriers in the United States. Moving forward with their LTE network and HSPA+ 42.2 on 1900Mhz, they won't really stand out much. Sure they can attract some new iPhone users that now get 3G or 4G@14.4 with the 4S, but the 84.4 Mbps network would have really set them apart from the other carriers. LTE devices are usually more expensive and have less battery life then a comparable HSPA+ device.
