T-Mobile Details HSPA+ and LTE Network Upgrade Progress
How do you know when you are using 1900 HSPA+ ?
When I'm connected to a network using 1900, It displays a 3G. Further inspection from the menu stats that the phone knows 1900 as "UMTS". When the phone is connected to 850/2100, on my phone, it displays as "H", further inspection of the menus showed this to be HSPA. My phone is a Galaxy 5 (HSPA 10.1).
Your phone might work the same way.

how would I know if T-Mo really deployed it in my area or not?
Easy just buy an unlocked iphone and see if its 3g or EDGE 🤣 short of that under netwrok settings there should be an option formobile network, you can check to see if that shows what band you're on
