I have two phones, one smartphone and one basic phone on a Nationwide 2000 Family Share Plan:

$70 (1400 Shared Minutes)
Smartphone - $9.99 Access + $30 Unlimited Data + $10 Text
Basic Phone - $9.99 Access
Basic Phone - $9.99 Access

* I average around 2.5 GB of data (some months I barely use 1 GB, some months I use up to 4 GB).
* I have never gone over my texting allotment.
* The basic phones incurs maybe 1 or 2 text messages in any given month, that's all.

So, I'm spending $139.97 per month. If I switched to the new plan I'd be spending:

$40 Smartphone + $30 Basic Phone + $30 Basic Phone + $70 4 GB = $170.

I don't see any reason to give Verizon an additional $480/year for what I don't need. Just pointing out that while some scenarios it is useful, there are others in which it isn't. And, my scenario is a real life example as well... Smile
