The end is near for iDEN
the IDEN spectrum isn't gonna be used for CDMA?
It's gonna be used for LTE.
By June of next year I would hope LTE-Advanced!!!
CDMA 1x-Advanced only requires 1.25MHz per channel so they have plenty of room to throw a couple voice channels along with a nice 5x5 LTE config.
The 800MHz CDMA channels will provide much better indoor service than PCS thus saving on roaming costs.. They'd be dumb not to use 800MHz for voice as well
Not to mention the additional 1900 MHz that Nextel owned before the merger, and the huge amount of nationwide 2.5 GHz spectrum that Nextel brought to the party and Sprint literally gave away to Clearwire,
Sprint CDMA and eventually LTE customers will benefit a huge amount from all the Nextel resources. A reasonable person would think that those legacy Sprint customers would show at least a small amount of gratitude toward the dying Nextel.
