Absolutely necessary, too. I hope all providers move to this type of software update process rather than going to a store (where most employees don't know what the hell you're talkin about).


Begs the question, though... Is it a potential security issue to have the capability to alter the phone's software remotely without the customer having to dial before the download begins. Correct me if I'm wrong, but as I understand it the downloads are automatically downloaded and the user is prompted whether or not to install...

My only concern with that is the majority of the casual users will not accept the downloads. Its just like Windows updates or Virus updates, Casual users usually say no. This leaves them open to whatever the update fixed
