16 Gigabytes is a HUGE amount of data. But people these days are lazy with their drives and their organization. I remember when I have a 100 MB hard drive on my 486 - if you didnt manage your drive and space constantly, you ran out of room.

With these huge 32 and 64 gig devices, you can be lazy and just leave stuff on there forever and never have to worry about them filling up. As far as music goes, I have over 30 gigs on my computer alone, so 16 would not be enough for me if I wanted ALL my music on my phone.
