Several carriers already offer data-only plans, it's called voice barred. Within the next two years? How about right now. With wifi calling apps and apps like dell voice, theres no reason to even need included voice minutes.

Yes, great way to strangle CSpire and all the rural carriers! Stop them from doing inter portable roaming, Qualcomm has to make chips that they can charge the carriers more for and ATT and Verizon get the smaller carriers off their back (for the most part). Sounds like a win win for the big carriers and Qualcomm if you ask me. I must be inclined to agree with C-Spires accusations of ATT.

this article doesnt even have anything to do with that !

I was just pointing out the stupidity of that ceo's comments, as data-only plans are already currently available, and have been for a few years from several carriers. Not in two years - right now.

also - sounds like you're angry. I just equate it to this. GSM is like bananas, LTE is like coconuts. At&t has just began growing coconuts, and they don't want to share, because, well, they are special coconuts. C-spire wants some coconuts, but from somebody else's palm tree. Their ladder isn't long enough to reach on their own. The ladder company, qualcomm, does make longer ladders, but they cost more. So, at&t wants to hold on to their own coconuts from their own tree, soun...

Even if it's not on topic.

On the topic, sure, some carriers may offer it if you look hard enough. But all I've heard of, especially from the major carriers, is that voice is required (unless you're deaf) with a phone plan. Can you point me at one of the larger (I'll even take regional carriers like MetroPCS and US Cellular) offer just data for smartphones, without any talk or text?

Verizon had a $34.99 data only plan for smartphones. I'm not sure if they still have it, but I actually had it on one of my lines until I decided to drop it to a family share and pay five dollars more to actually use if for calls. ($9.99 plus $29.99).

yes and the prices need to be resonable, do you forget that spectrum is licensed and not owned? Fool, it just proves you're an ATT troll plain and simple. According to the FCC and roaming arrangements they do! and have you heard of VoLTE? Just another way for them to strangle you and force you into data. Duh!

I work for T-Mobile. You, sir, are laughable.

Of course the prices need to be reasonable, I'm all for that. I am not a person who choses those prices, I'm not the person who is paying those prices. If you are so upset about this you should take your business as far from at&t as you can, and maybe join a lobbying group.
