...analog or TDMA all over again. Unbelievable! Somewhere out there someone is still using Betamax. Hmmm...I wonder if that Atari 7800 still works.

You're being a little ridiculous, in that your chosen examples above are not really analogous. The one and ONLY area where iDEN is not competitive is data. On all other counts that mobile phones are used for (i.e. voice & text), Nextel iDEN is at least as good as any other US carrier's offerings. And for PTT, to this day nothing is overall as good as iDEN PTT (yes, Sprint's latest CDMA PTT is equivalent in terms of connection times, but there are other aspects of PTT where Sprint Direct Connect still is not yet equal to iDEN PTT).
