Expect other carriers to follow.

Price increases are generally expected. However, with formidable competition slowing dying and lack of regulations within the wireless industry, the two largest carriers will indeed, control the market standards across the board. This will trickle down to the smaller. MVNOs will take the hit also as they sublet from the mother carriers. Their prices will increase as well.

We need more competition people no matter what side of the fence you're on for carrier support.

That is the reason I backed a Tmobile/Sprint merge if a merge had to happen.

What about MetroPCS & Cricket?
You don't view them as providing competition? Metro now has over 10m customers, and has been growing steadily for the past 2-3yrs.

Personally, I think it would be good for Metro & Tmo to merge.

Good Morning Jay,

Even as well known MetroPCS and Cricket are, the joining of the two would not be a substantial customer base percentage to help levy governed pricing against the two monsters holding almost 200 million subs collectively. We need a third and/or most preferably, a fourth super power with similar customer base.

We also need to consider this. Verizon and AT&T's main directive is primarily a different business model as opposed to only prepaid. In short, they do not desire this type of clientele and do not view them as a competitive challenge. Not trying to stereotype financially handicapped vs the comfortable, but it is what it is.

John B,

Correct and also toss into this, MetroPCS nor Cricket have any decent high end phones to entice customers from the larger carriers over to them. If all one wants is a low end smartphone or some simple phone for calls, they're fine. And most of us here are not in that category.

Also, who knows how long they will remain independent. MetroPCS is in talks with TMO and Leap is with AT&T. This never seems to end.

I have three. No need for a second job though. I'll cancel one and switch another to a feature phone. Little lady will keep her iphone, of course.

A merger doesn't have to happen. A merged T-Mobile/Sprint entity would be a negative.
