Do you think that Cingular will carry this phone? When do you think it will be released?

I imagine Cingular would want to carry this device, but fore some reason this feels like a Sprint phone to me. probably both would be my guess.

Nice phone, too if your not lookin for a PDA. I really like the memory card. 🙂

Wow... guess I must be bummed that the golf season is over (fore?!?). ;)

As far as when the phone is coming out - not sure, probably 3-5 months if history is any judge.

Obviously a Cingular phone. No one else has 850/1900 GSM and no one else has EDGE.

This is a GSM phone, which means it is 100% incompatible with Verizon's network (and Sprint's.)

Um, no it isn't. Sprint and Verizon are CDMA.

it had EDGE of course its GSM that definitely leaves SPRINT & VERIZON out ... why even ask the question.. the only other major carrier mat have been T-Mob but they are not going to EDGE for atleast a year maybe 2...

But the features of this are almost exactly like the V710. There's not much the V635 will have that the V710 doesn't have, and that's been available with Verizon for months.

Except that VZW crippled their phone into a POS. I went through 6 phones in three months and gave up, got out of my VZW contract (no ETF) nad went to Cingular with the V3. At least it makes calls (very well). The V710 COULD OF been a hell of a phone but VZW got too greedy and screwed the pooch.

That is exactly what I did a month after the V600 came out last year! And I had to pay two- one for me and one for my wife. After 7 years with VZW I could not stand by and watch all the good stuff going somewhere else any longer... and now I have a RAZR.

Do it!

The phone is a Quad Band phone; so just buy it, unlock it, and use it on your carrier. It might be cheaper than paying the early termination.

uhm, catch a clue, quad band doesn't make it a CDMA phone (Verizon/Sprint)... Catch a clue and don't talk about technology you obviously know nothing about... This phone will only work on GSM (Cingular/T-Mobile). End of subject.

I hate it when people see a new phone and they don't even look at the type of Technology that it has. People are likeing the V635 without looking to see if its CDMA, TDMA, GSM, or even iDEN.

Yeah, my bad. I deserved that flame. I didn't bother to remember that Sprint and VZW were not GSM carriers. I'm still on the whole SE s710a mindset.

you're wrong
T-Mobile has GSM 1900, and able to roam on 850 in some area
and T-Mobile will sell V635 upon EDGE activation early summer 2005, I think, along with nokia 3230, 6230, 6810

Yes, but the memory card slot is different, and I think, very cool. Plus no media restrictions like VZW.

It's a quad band GSM phone - Sprint is CDMA. Therefore this cannot be a Sprint phone. As the initial announcement mentions that the phone has EDGE, if it is ever released by a U.S. carrier, it will be Cingular, as T-Mobile is the only other U.S. GSM provider, and they do not have EDGE deployed as of yet.

Wow. I look like an idiot and feel sheepish. This is just one of those mornings. What I meant to say is that it feels like Nextel. Nextel, yeah, the one with GSM. ::slaps forehead::

T-Mobile is always used for phones like the v635 for it to even work. Just because it says T-Mobile doesn't mean the phone is for T-Mobile. The V400 used to have pictures that said it would be for T-Mobile, but it came out in the USA for Cingular. I think T-Mobile is like the "universal" carrier for most phones. Plus gsmarena is a British cell phone site, that's why it says some phones are available for phones that have never even seen the US.

Not sure I understand exactly what you are trying to say. My phones don't say TMobile on them. In fact aside Motorola, they don't say anything at all. All I was trying to say was that this phone could be used with TMobile.

I know you meant. I was just saying that most phones can operate using a t-mobile sim card. Like at some tech shows, most of them operate with a t-mobile browser even though later one they'll be sold for cingular or such.
