Does anyone think that it's a little weird to release an update to something that's only been on the market for a VERY short time? I mean the v620 hasn't even hit the US market, and hasn't been out very long in the places it IS in. Why upgrade it so soon? Was the 620 another v600? Is that why it hasn't hit USA? Will the 635 be any better in all reality?

It all just seems a bit strange to me, but I wouldn't doubt it if it popped up in Cingular's lineup, considering their recent additions of 2 other EDGE capable video phones.

Well the FCC only approved it now, so it will take awhile until the phone is actually released. By the way, the V620 and V600 are the same phones...

Only difference between them is the Video Capture feature on the V620. This means that it can record video unlike the V600 which only lets you play video's back that you have Downloaded!. And the other difference is the Black color the V620 has over the V600.

Also longer battery life, slightly thicker, and a 262k color screen appear on the V620.

Yes and no. It's similar hardware, but the V620 has a better display and adds video capture.

Hint: BETA testing results... could have been either misread or misconstrued i.e. -- send out the patch... just a thought....

The V620 was only a very minor update to the V600, adding video capture and a slightly better display. It doesn't really count as a new phone.

The V635 is an actual new model, with considerable new and upgraded hardware. The V600 was announced in January 2003 - almost two years ago. The V635 hasn't even been announced yet, much less released...

Two years is actually a really long time to go without a genuine new replacement model in this industry. If anything, I think it's weird that they waited so long.

😁 True. Is T-Mobile going to carry it in the summer when they launch EDGE?

😁 I read online that they are still developing teh software for the V620. The hardware is already developed, its the software. Remember the V600 launch, when the first batch for AT&T Wireless and Cingular came out, that phone had major problem due to the 850Mhz frequency, and other problems. Now that T-Mobile has it, it doesn't have that problem anymore. T-Mobile waited until Motorola got the bugs out before T-Mobile launched it. T-Mobile will problably carry it, when they officially launch EDGE technology in 2005.

Remember that T-Mobile did not release this phone as a quad-band device. It is tri-band for them thus eliminating the 850mhz problem for them as a whole. So, more like...

I'll half agree with that....considering the fact that T-Mo doesn't even use the 850Mhz frequency. They're on 1900Mhz. Either way, they wouldn't be affected with the...

I guarantee we aren't even going to see the V620. This is a high demand phone. It has all the features of phones people want, so, just like the RAZR 😛 , this will be a great addition to feature-rich high end phones. I look forward to hopefully seeing it offered by Cingular soon.
