I'd think that is a result of being a CDMA carrier and not necessarily verizon's fault. There are a lot more GSM phones available.
im really not baging on verizon..they are a good company in my opion...i just get a little froggy when I really want something...
I guess then i wish they made more CDMA phones with the GSM options..

why does sprint offer a better selection of handsets then? 😁
That my friends is the story of the Motorola V710 (with a heaping spoonful of exaggeration)

Maybe cause they don't make *any* phones?
I wished you had to buy the phones and then call the service providers to get activated.
OBEX may also be enabled, but until the phone is released there shouldn't be any speculation.
plus anyone who can use bluetooth can use their computer to write stuff to a card

This phone is an example of what makes GSM better. It has lots of features and a GSM carrier won't cripple all of them. However, a CDMA carrier like Verizon for example, would cripple the bluetooth and other features without changing the price. Also GSM is more widespread; it can be used in more places. GSM phones also have sim cards you can switch to another GSM phone so you don't have to get only the phones that your carrier has available. Did I mention that there's even a larger choice of GSM phones? And about TDMA, GSM is a 2.5G technology and but TDMA is only 2.0G.

GSM carriers have not cripple phones features. This, I can concede. As far as VZW is concerned, yes, there were modifications made to the bluetooth, so that customers would use Get-It-Now and purchase ringtones and games (which are a goldmine, BTW). While not cool, it is still a business, so I let the run it. Customer's who don't like it can of course leave. But really, VZW customers are muliplying like crazy, with record breaking customer additions for any wireless company each of the last two quarters, and I project - again in the fourth quarter.
I will also cocede the fact that there are more phones available for GSM. GS

I feel the same way. Verizon has great customer service [I have never used] and recpetion [like every provider in my area] but no decent phones. Yesterday I was exploding when I found out that Cingular was coming to my area in early 2005.
Now I'm saving up to cancel my contract. The only problem is I don't have enough money to buy all the phones I want 😢 haha. I've heard nothing but great reviews about the Nokia 6230, Motorola V551, and now I'm looking at that new LG w/ the QWERTY keyboard that seems to be quite cheap.
uhhuh... 🙄
I am currently with Verizon and will most likely switch to Cingular when my contract is up in May. I like the looks of the Motorola V551 and will give it a try. But no more two year contracts for sure.
I talked to a Cingular rep. and was told that they pro-rate their early termination fee to a lesser amout as you get closer to your anniversary date. That and the roll over minutes sounds like a company that has confidence in their product.
