So it will immediately move their 3G customers off, or only when they upgrade to a 4G phone?

What about people with 4G phones, will they need to change to these data share plans, or do they get to keep unlimited?

Shammo said that *AS* 3G customers with $30 monthly unlimited plans upgrade to 4G plans, they will have to sign up for the shared data plans.

So its when they upgrade.

It sounds like all plans will be considered "shared". In other words, an individual can add a tablet to their phone and share the data. If you only have one device, you're not sharing, but the plan is the same.

I wonder about that myself. I have a grandfathered unlimited 3G plan, but am using a Galaxy Nexus without a contract with no problems.

Still, this MIGHT work out in my favor depending on the post of the shared data plan -- both my wife and I have 4G phones -- $30/"unlimited" on mine, $30/month for 4 gig (which she's never close to) on hers. In a typical month I use ~2 gig, only once have I gone over that and not by much, so if a shared plan with enough data were $50 or so we would save a bit (at the cost of me having to monitor my usage a bit "just in case").
