This Is So Wrong On So Many Levels

Lightsquared, like any other company, purchased spectrum from the government, in good faith, with the intention to operate its business as any other operator in this industry,

Out of left field, claims (true or not) stated that their operation as going to interfere with GPS systems and as I consumer I was concerned as were many of us regarding this matter,

Now just MAYBE I have this oversimplified but should LightSquared be offered some sort of compensation, concession, refund or something for this purchase instead of being given the bums rush,

I am not totally dogmatic on this, yes I am a PROUD Sprint Fan Boi to the core, but this has nothing to do with my question.

I just want to see some fairness here,If my facts are out of ...

In reality, LS did not purchase any spectrum from the FCC, they purchased it from a company that does sattelite communications from space.

The spectrum was never intended for terrestrial broadcast use.

LS asked the FCC to grant an exception to the use rules for this spectrum and it was granted IF AND ONLY IF they could prove terrestrial broadcasts on this spectrum would not interfere with GPS systems.

They could not.

LS rolled the dice -- they came up snake eyes --

It isn't incumbent on the FCC to offer or do anything for LS.

If we want to get away from facts, and into speculation, knowing the rep and pasts 'deals' of Falcone, I'd bet money that he thought he would grease enough palms to make it happen and the FCC actually...

Thank you for your clear and concise answer that glued together bits and peices of what ive heard of this situation over the past year.

At this point, I will aknowledge that the most importint thing I know is how much it is that I don't know before I get called out on it.

Some people on thus site would rather antogonize others about not knowing something. Rather than just simply inform, and move on.

There's a lot of rude people on this site. That's why I've been going to
Android Central & Phandroid more recently.

People are mostly just plain and simple wireless tech enthusiasts at those sites.
