No, no, no...you've got that all wrong. People state the obvious, and then I skewer them.

On a smarter note, I like the fact that this phone supports all the bluetooth profiles. Very nice. Nice big color screen, as well.

Verizon gets the job done.

you should change your name to Jedi Knight ofcellular.
you could start a class for young Jedi apprentices and teach them the Jedicellular way.

tell me then Jedi... which phone does verizon make that doesn't look ugly and lack bluetooth.

Bluetooth is OK for slow GSM networks, but what do you do about CDMA EVDO networks where the network outruns bluetooth?
What about the next generation of phones for both Sprint-Nextel, The New AT&T and Verizon which will incorporate 802.11g? It seems that all notebook computers can support 802.11g but few support bluetooth.
The companies that merged to form Verizon could have put GSM networks in long ago, but they waited for something more powerful, CDMA. Sometimes it is worth the wait.

Jeff, First of all Bluetooth is not like a wireless network nor is it meant to be. Bluetooth is a way to link local devices without cables. It makes it easy to sync your phone and download things like pictures without paying for MMS messaging. I have bluetooth in my car, would you rather BMW installed a wireless LAN? LOL You're trying to put down one technology with a feature that has nothing to do with it and I find your mis-information quite amusing. Yes, CDMA is technologically superior but Verizon and Sprint put so many restrictions on what you can do with it that it turns a lot of people away. I love that I can switch phones with a chip, I love that via bluetooth I can upload my own mp3 ringers instead of having to buy them from "...

You're right about the bluetooth being for PAN's but a lot of the rest of your arguement just becomes an anti cdma rant.. or atleast anti sprint/verizon. all he said was "evdo outperforms bluetooth" which it does or is supposed to.. who knows what will happen when there's a reasonable load on the network. While 802.11g is definately not a permanent solution and probably won't be used officially for that purpose by verizon it would work. The battery life would be crap when using it but it would work. Also the chances of verizon allowing it, like you said, are slim because it helps you get around their data. Oh and your laptop doesn't have a bluetooth dongle built in it has a bluetooth card. dongle's are external.

Because EVERYone needs bluetooth, right? I don't need bluetooth, and anyway my comment was in reference to your childish "Verizon sucks" remark.

Now that Nextel is going to offer a Bluetooth phone, I kind of think to myself I shouldn't have left Nextel... But then when I look at my phone that I have with Cingular and see full bars, I retract my thought and doubts about leaving Nextel and tell myself, "Yes, you made the right decision". Nextel, plain and simple, sucks. I can't say it sucks for everyone, but it surely did for me. Dropped calls up the ying yang, direct-connect?? Hah, it was nice, IF you could possibly communicate with someone through it, instead of getting the usual Beeeeeeeeep, Beeeeeeeeeep, definitaly not directly connected to anything. All in all, I love Cingular, I love the phones they offer, and I love having a Sony Ericsson all over again.

As for Verizon,...

As for Verizon, like I said about Nextel, it may be good for some, not for others, to each his own.
Exactly, which renders the rest of your statement pointless. You're Nextel service was miserable in YOUR area. Big deal. It excels elsewhere. When will people learn this?

Just so this thread can be somewhat relevant to the news article, it will be a very positive step for the IDEN users to be able to use some of the functionality of Bluetooth.

Now for the irrelevant part, really boys Don't you think you are old enough to not worry about lowbrow bashing?
I'll bet sometimes Rich feels like a disgruntled parent and wants to say something like; "Don't make me pull this forum over."

MuchDrama, I'm surprised at you. So Joachim challenged your wireless manhood. You who have successfully dueled it out with more worthy opponents feel compelled to answer the challenge of someone who really comes to the wireless wit table unarmed? Why? I just checked out the XV6600, it looks pretty nice. I'd like the qwerty keyboard for sure, I do alot of texting. I've never used a Windows OS phone though, so I can't say if I would or wouldn't like it. My father owns a P910, the Symbian is nice but I really see nothing special about it that would suit *my own personal needs*.

Ohh, nevermind, brain fart. The only phone I've ever handled with any kind of sliding/swiveling mechanism was a Sony Ericsson S700, it seemed pretty solid. But eventually time will take its toll on those sliding/swiveling mechanisms and they'll become flimsy, at least I think so, I dunno.

Thought you should know that Verizon is not the only company with mobile cell towers on hand and in fact during the florida hurricanes there were some areas that verizon went down but their competers were still up(like AT&T for example) and also AT&T(before the merge) and Cingular both have signifacant investments in cell tower production and I am pretty sure the same goes for Sprint. The magor difference, Verizon is the only one who feels they need to advertise it to everyone. But you know they probable to spend a couple extra million mainly because CDMA is a more expensive. But every company needs an avertising pitch(has anyone seen the Cingular linebacker lol).

Joachim, calm down my son. It cracks me up how everyone has to trash talk on this board instead of discussing the actual subject. So you like your service better then his, big deal! If yours is so good then tell us why, donโ€™t just say โ€œVerizon Sucksโ€ย it makes you sound like a idiot. Itโ€™s too bad there are so many immature people on this board that resort to trash talk rather then actual discussion. ๐Ÿ™„
