It's 3,000 people a year dying now that weren't being killed in the pre-iPhone society 10 years ago.

That rate of growth is epidemic.

No, not true at all. 3000 people a day die in car accidents. This is nothing more than a feel good law. Feel good laws deserve to be tossed and vetoed.

In the US, vehicle deaths are more like 3,000 per month (usually around 40k per year), not per day.

No. Even if you were correct, there is already a law. It's called RECKLESS DRIVING. No need for anymore bureaucratic socialist laws that will cost the tax payers millions and solve nothing.

I agree and I also think that if I can not have a conversation on the phone while driving, then car pooling should be out also. There are some seriously distracting conversations going on there as well. Oh yea, and car makers need to stop putting those distracting radios in the cars and the comfortable seating as well. Maybe take out the air conditioning as well. These are all serious distractions. I don't know the numbers, but I bet if you checked, people involved in a high number of accidents were adjusting the radio, A/C, maybe the seat wasnt close enough or they spilled something...or they were listening to the conversation from the passenger who was talking to the other passengers in the car...Evil car makers putting more than one seat ...
