BlackJack vs. 8125 Pocket PC

Nov 14, 2006, 12:24 AM
Does anyone know if the blackjack will offer the ability to edit Excel, powerpoint and word? I think I read somewhere the docs can be viewed? Is the blackjack wifi ready? Eh?

the blackjack is a SmartPhone and does not have native capability to edit Word/Excel/PPT docs. you can, however, view the docs. the cingular version does not have wifi, but my understanding is that the non-cingular version (i600) will.

Forgive my naivete' as a newbie to this technology, but from briefly scanning boards like this and howardforums, etc, aren't there mods of some kind, or programs even, that can be added/done to allow for editing of the above type docs? Or is just never possible?
I, too, need that feature & to get it, along with all the others I need, I'm limited to, like, 2 phones!
the Blackjack could be a solution if I could bridge that....

with smartphones, the os only allows for viewing which is why smartphones are a drawback in my opinion. only ppc can let you edit word.excel files and such.

Yeah, that is a major drawback for me. Bummer.
But thanks for the info. Good to know.
I just got a bought cheap ppc to tide me over til something that 'has it all' (well, 'all' that I want, anyway) finally comes out.

Any recent Symbian S60 phone will allow edits to MS Excel, Word docs, if the docs themselves are not too complex. Had the app on a Nokia 6682 for over a year, and it works well.

It does come with Picsel Viewer software. As the name implies, it is only for viewing, not editing.

8125 allows viewing, creation and editing of these files, has wifi, and has the mini SD memory card slot to hold more of them.

The Blackjack is even better in that it has an external micro SD card slot!!

Yes, but I thought you can't edit or credit docs w/the Blackjack?

you cant

Is the version of the Windows Mobile 5 operating system on the Blackjack identical to the Cingular 8125 or is there a difference?
