A huge part of their userbase? I doubt that there are all that many WP7 users who have not upgraded to 7.5. Every single Windows Phone can be upgraded to 7.5, and there is no excuse for not upgrading.

And at any rate, Microsoft is still nowhere near as ruthless as Apple when it comes to cutting off suportt for legacy products.
