Verizon Offering 100MB to International Travelers for $25
Just curious..
Just curious.. Why do the carriers feel compelled to royally screw international users? I understand the whole contract thing and pricing. But 100M for $25 is insane, you'd think they could do a -little- better than that.

They pay a lot for international roaming rights. You'd be best off just switching SIM cards when you travel (if you have a phone that takes SIM cards, Verizon offers a few) or buying a prepaid phone in another country.

Keep in mind they have to cut deals with carriers in each country. Since most are GSM, Verizon can't offer reciprocity to defray what they need to pay.

Are we forgetting Vodaphone's 45% stake in Verizon? This is profit for the sake of profit guys and gals.

Vodafone is only one company Verizon has to deal with. Verizon Wireless still has to pay them, anyway. This isn't even a case of corporate siblings under a single umbrella. Verizon Wireless is an independent company. These situations don't always make for happy bedfellows. Just look at Sprint and Clear for an example, where price negotiations looked ugly for a bit.
