The big dogs all move in lock step. One does something, you can bet the others will follow. AT&T implemented a $36 fee not too long ago and Sprint has it too, and even T-Mo has an $18 fee - this was bound to happen.
It's revenue. The end.

Sprint has always had the $36 activation fee. Originally it was waived when ordering online. There was an $18 upgrade fee when purchasing in store and possibly through Telesales (option to waive it.) Now since we have the iPhone..that $20billion and all, $36 activation/upgrade fees apply to all purchases, made online, in store or Telesales.

That's true. And as for getting it waved now....forget about it. Not going to happen.

And to those customers that lie through their teeth that say "the store told me it would be waved", we tell them: "go back to the store and get it waved by them then."

Honestly, the fees do help PAY for services. Like those people that have to put up with talking a customer through 10 minutes of informing them how to use their new phone, activation/set up, all that stuff. Even registering the serial number in a database of available, active phones.

The $30 monthly fee for data compensates the company for the time it takes to help a new customer learn how to use the new phone. This is just Verizon grasping at a new way to increase margins at the customers expense. If this fee is to pay for tablet training class, then charge customers for participating in the training class. This fee hasn't been in place for over a decade and Verizon has been extremely profitable. The customers are at the carriers mercy, the carrier can do whatever they want and get away with it. How many people will switch providers because of this? Not enough to make a difference. If this fee was paid to the rep or retailer who processed the upgrade, and waived if you buy online, even that would be slightly more justif...

Wow! Pencil pushers response: "TEN YEARS OF FEES" At $30 a pop how much money is that they missed out upon?
