Fair enough. I'm not claiming to be right or wrong here. However, TMO claims that they are going to offer jobs in the remaining 17 of the 24 call center to 1,400 of the 3,300 people currently employed in the seven being shut down. I'm sure these call centers aren't right next door to each other, so how many of these employees will actually be in a position to take advantage of the offer? Besides, what happens to the those 1,400 and the other employees, when TMO decides that they need to cut seven more call centers?

So, as you said, postponement of further job lose is in the air. In the end, the refusal of the merger really had nothing to do with the lose of jobs, as you also pointed out, this was one of the reasons the FCC denied the merger, along with what history has shown. But, this is a very moot point to the people this affects. They could care less about who was doing the cutting at this point. That was all still very educated speculation. The FCC didn't know for sure what would have happened. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for them looking out for our best interest but, in the end, it didn't even matter. and it makes me wonder if TMO already knew this would happen, if the merger didn't go through. It's just very coincidental that the number of jobs ATT claimed they would save is very close to the number of people TMO is actually cutting.

So, whether or not they would still be working if ATT was allowed to purchase TMO or if ATT would have eventually cut the jobs in some point in time is moot, as well. If ATT really wanted to prove a point, they should hire all the employees who's jobs are being cut.
