This article is 100% UNTRUE.

T-Mobile is NOT Nixing any jobs at all.
Not one, and certainly not 1900.

Every single T-Mobile employee who works at a current call centre will be given opportunity to transfer to one of the currently existing ones. No employee has lost their job.

"""Though the facilities scheduled for closure employ 3,300, about 1,400 employees will be added to the remaining 17 call centers, offsetting some of the job loses to a net of 1,900 positions."""

The above statement could not be farther from the truth. The closures will affect up to 3,300 employees, but NONE of them have lost their jobs. 1,400 is the number is NEW employees that are being hired by T-Mobile DISPITE this closure.

AGAIN - Nobody h...

I am pretty sure Tofuchong has a good point although he didn't explain it very well at all.

All affected employees (3,300) are being given the opportunity to transfer. T-Mobile is betting that 1,900 won't or can't take the offer to move. They will basically "Nix" their own jobs with the company.

Now if 100% of the employees in the closing call centers took the offer, This strategy of making 1,900 positions vanish may backfire

Bottom line is by their math, 1,900 jobs are going and they got out of the responsibility of handing out pink slips and gave it to their employees to decide.

all sad anyway

it is still a "nix" by TMO, not everyone would be more than willing to relocate. i really dont know if this is a necessity for the company but the point here is that people will lose their jobs. and denying that by saying that everyone is welcome on other center and plainly stating "NO ONE'S GOING TO LOSE THEIR JOB" is plain sugarcoating

The way I view it, this will backfire on Tmobile regardless. Although the company is saying that they will allow them to transfer, that doesn't mean that all those reps are guaranteed a position. They will give the assistance, a severance package, and some healthcare benefits but ultimately they are getting the boot. 😢

Unfortunately for customers and frontline reps, they still have a very large majority of these customer care positions being outsourced to places where you barely understand them and they you. I understand its cheaper but you clearly are not listening to your customers.

If he were a corporate shill--he would have just told us that T-Mobile's statement was correct.

im trying to understand you,Tofuchong, you are at the very first stage of grieving, called DENIAL. then after a few hours/days you'll be entering the BARGAINING stage.

*Phonescoop would never quote someone from TMO [ CEO and President of T-Mobile] if this is nothing but speculation

They only report on facts that are established, not rumors. And if it is a rumor, they make very clear to mark that it's just a rumor, albeit a likely one.

Funniest thing is that PhoenScoop did not quote anyone - they just reported what was on the T-Mo web site (including the link to their press release).

How can the article be UNTRUE if people WILL lose their jobs...

1. T-Mobile doesnt have the financial stability of employing people they dont need.
2. If T-Mobile is planning to fix their service and plans like they claim, less calls will come into call centers. Less calls = less people needed.
3. Im sure T-Mobile ISNT going to hand out checks for people to uproot and move and break leases so they can go to other call centers, some of which happen to be STATES AWAY!

So again, tell me how people arent goingto lose their jobs. Being given an opportunity thats unrealistic to just up and move isnt an opportunity to keep your job. Thats like saying, you have the opportunity to spend your childrens college fund on Craps in Vegas to win $1...

Recommend reading the T-Mobile release (found in the link in the news article).

"T-Mobile is inviting employees from the seven call centers, planned for closure, to transfer to another facility. Employees who transfer will be offered relocation assistance."

Also the RIF will eliminate jobs by attrition from those not willing to transfer:

"Call centers scheduled for closure are located in: Allentown, Pennsylvania; Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Frisco, Texas; Brownsville, Texas; Lenexa, Kansas; Thornton, Colorado and Redmond, Oregon. This consolidation effort will result in 1,900 net job reductions. T-Mobile employs approximately 3,300 people at the seven affected facilities. However, the company will begin hiring immediately at the rema...

I think you may be mistaken. Obviously posting internal documents on a website would probably lead to the end of your job. I see your post, and that information is not internal information. That is not what was provided to the employees by the company.

Obviously I am not going to provide you with a copy / paste of the exact document, however what you have stated above is not factual in it's entirety.

I work for t-mobiles sales deportment in hayden idaho. Most people dont know this but the call centers they are talking about here are the t mobile owned call centers only. There are countless call centers that they dont mention because they are contacted 3rd party call centers. T mobile would rather you not know that when you call to set up service your really not giving you personal info to t mobile but rather a company you have probably never heard of. My call center has been the main one for t mobile sales for something like 6 or 7 years until recently. The one I work for is one such call center. Center Partners.... Look then up. Moving on, my point is, this down sizing thing isn't new. They started with us. In just a few months time we ...

I know people who have lost their job because of this. It is most definitely real. Its not just reps but managers, admin, IT, facilities, hr, security, custodians, everyone that worked in the buildings. The company is downsizing and outsourcing. This is the truth.

The company has the right to do it, and will probably pay some sort of severance for the workers that cannot transfer. I just wish them all the best.
