There doesn't seem to be a downside...

But , I'm sure Verizon and AT&T will find a reason to say it's BAD.

Let the carriers decide on this, not the government. What it seems to me is TMO wanting a good LTE network on the cheap.

It's public airwaves. The Govt has FULL right to make such demands using the PUBLIC airwaves for PUBLIC interest.

So, companies that spend billions on spectrum and infrastructure should just say, sure come on, bring nothing to the table and eat all you want.

Humm...do I really need to answer this...usually money or an exchange of another roaming agreement is paid. I am not strongly agreeing or disagreeing with what Tmo is asking....But to act like roaming is absolutely free for any carrier is either exaggerating or misrepresenting the facts.

Only thing TMO can bring to the table and its up to AT&T mostly and VZW to a lessor extent is using AWS for the uplink.

I don't know how any of us could be in a position to know that for sure....I know that in many cases a carrier will charge another carrier a fee for roaming in a certain area, unless there was something else to exchange. Who is to say that a Verizon or ATT would not do the same with Tmo?

The way I feel about what Tmo is asking is this:

Is it self-serving? Yes, of course
Does it help the consumer? Yes, it does.

Because of the latter, I am ok with what Tmo is asking. I feel like only Verizon/ATT employees and/or "homers" are the ones that have problems with this, since it is pro consumer. And I do feel like saying that Tmo could bring nothing to the table for a roaming agreement is not factually correct, and exaggerates the tru...

You're not going to win. Bickering back and forth with him is pointless. Clearly, Verizon would rather deny other carriers access to their network rather than accept cash in return.

What does TM have to offer? Their "4G Network"? Oh how about the large sum of money that they received from AT&T? TM and Spring is fighting tooth and nail to survive in the big industry. Heck, they have REALLY cheap plans and REALLY cheap (not cheaply made) phones and yet still can not stay a float.

Actually the only consumers who benefit are those on TMO, and hey, if I used TMO I'd be all over this. In some ways it does hurt other users of the major carriers with more stress on the system.

He's talking about fanboys. Non-employees of a particular company that are seriously infatuated. You'vee seen the posts. "AT&T can do no wrong" "Verizon is perfect" etc... Lol

Huh? What are you talking about. Contrary to what your post says, they want to make phones Interoperable. (Notice how i did NOT include the words "free" "Roaming" cause that isn't what this is about.

This will help at&t, verizon, and t-mobile customers alike. NOT just t-mobile. It give the chance for a disgruntled at&t customer the ability to switch to t-mobile or verizon. (in due time.)

Nowhere does the words "free" or "roaming" anywhere near this, so quit with the misleading fud.

(Not to mention t-mobile customers get around 100mb off network data. lmao!!)

If the carriers decide then the answer is an obvious 'No'
