How many outages have there been lately? I know, I know, it's to be expected. Never the less it doesn't inspire confidence in consumers if you want them to switch to 4G. Especially if VZW is talking about going voice over LTE.
Second, battery life, battery life...remember when there weren't extended batteries? Oh the horror, what'd we do back then!?! 😳
And I think if tiered data plans have done one thing it's made consumers realize..."Hey, I don't need gobs and gobs of data." I think AT&T has even come out lately and said the majority of consumers don't even come close to using 5GB a month.

I bet whats holding most people back from moving to 4G devices so quickly are things like being locked into existing contracts, availability only in Android devices, and like it or not lack of 4G in any iPhone which makes up a significant portion of Verizons smartphone sales these days.
I am still not sure from reading the article if that 5% base includes "dumb phone" users which are still significant in number.
