While this isn't necessarily a 6600, I'll take this step up in Nokia's CDMA product range. Here's hoping Verizon gets it soon (I'll upgrade in a heartbeat).

Here's a newsflash: The LG is a pretty small phone...so we know it ain't a brick. And it's reliable, right? So how's it a brick? You're making no sense.

Worked for both Verizon and now Cingular (recently ATTWS). When customers call in from there cell's it is so obvious. While working with VZW you could hardly tell. Also, I felt the same way about VZW phones when I worked for them, but now I wish I still was, when speaking about the phones them selves. Verizon has really stepped up with there phone selection, adding the Samsung SCH-a790 and the totally awesome Kyocera 7135. Both which weren't available when I left, actually the a790 just came out. Not to mention the i700, one of the only Windows PDA phones with a camera the came out over a year ago. Getting back to service, there is no comparison; atleast not right now, maybe with the implementation of totally 3G networks there will be improv...

Think about it CDMA speeds are to GSM, like GSM speed is to TDMA. This is the only thing (3G GSM) offered in Japan and we know how that country is about it cellular service.

I'd have to disagree with you there, holmes... 2G EDGE service offers faster data speeds than 3G cdma 1xRTT, and ev-do is only available in 14 cities in the US, so you can't judge ev-dv by THAT alone. ATTWS opened 6 cities with UMTS service, but Cingular will be releasing it's OWN UMTS service. In japan, their UMTS has the same data speeds that VZW is promoting, but the...

It isn't hot if it's on a mountain....

and I could care less. Last I checked, you weren't even posting on this thread, so why would you say I disagreed with you? 🙄

EDGE is consistent at about 120kbps CDMA1x peaks at up to 260kbps. It depends on whose 1x network you are talking about. Sprint's is closer to averaging 200kbps at least for my customers and Verizon's is averaging about 100kbps. All of this with dynamic spectrum allocation which uses network resources extremely efficiently. Unlike EDGE which uses a fixed amount of spectrum. Face it Cain, EDGE is the end of the road for GSM. After that it is an entire network rebuild which is not GSM nor CDMA but has characteristics of both.
I agree with you that EVDO should be more widely deployed and maybe it should have been skipped for EVDV. I don't like needing dedicated data channels, it defies what CDMA is all about.
Comparing Europe and Japan with...

You just keep losing all credibility here, man. Sprint doesn't even SELL EQUIPMENT that handles above 144kbps. So your little "my customers get 200kbps" statement is CRAP. FUTURE speeds for 1xRTT is supposed to be UP TO 384 but that is the FUTURE. as far as EDGE being "it" for gsm.... that's true if you only consider FDD overlay of TDMA GSM, but GSM is more than that... also... EDGE has capabilities up to 484kbps... it will be used to compliment the UMTS network... gsm is here to stay...
