😢

This will be death for me after they launch it. I will have a million customers asking me where the hell their Android Marketplace went and why it's not there anymore. I think i'll book the day after this is released off....

🤣 I could totally see that happening!

But I don't think it will be that bad, no doubt an update will be required to implement it, and so the truly ignorant will never install the update (because they don't know that phones have updates 🙄 ) and so you likely won't get too many calls from them.

Not sure about that. the last time they updated the Android Market, because it was mostly appearance based, I never actually had an update for it. It just kinda happened.

I just had a cusotmer telling me that they were forced to update, and that if they didnt, the current version on the phone would have had 0 functionality until they completed the update.

Hmmm....that sounds made up to me, granted my only direct personal experience with Android is with the Motorola Xoom tablet, but Android doesn't force any updates on you unless you sign up for 'automatic updating', and you have to opt in to automatic updates, the box is not pre-checked for you....I know some people are really good at doing stupid things inadvertently with their technology, but I still think it would be rather hard to sign up for automatic updates without knowing that you've signed up for automatic updates.

No box asking, just a box sating that it was done. Then I had to remove my market shortcut because it didnt work and replace it with the google play shortcut.

Simple and painless. Although my Xoom is yet to get the update, I assume it will be the same process.

Mine was automatic, also. But I didn't have to delete my shortcut. It just automatically went to Google Play. I had to accept terms or something, but everything seems to be working normally.

Well, I just picked up my Xoom and sure enough....the Android Market was gone and it is now Google Play....it did indeed change without an update...I have to say I'm surprised 😲

I have already seen this on a Customer device. He was wondering what happened to his Market. I found it listed as Play Store.
