original version, submitted Jan 4, 2013, 10:32 PM:

Tizen

Is not intended to be for flagship smartphones.
Supposedly the OS will run exceptionally well on basic to mid-range spec'ed phones. Will be simple yet powerful, full featured but nimble and fast while performing tasks.

Tizen based devices will be lower priced than equivalent performing android handsets. It's success as an smartphone platform will depend on how widely adopted will this new platform be; good marketing can make the difference, can make a crappy OS become very popular or make the best innovation ever just be submerged in the oblivion (remember megoo?).
