FINAL nail in the coffin...

Let me start by saying I was a huge fan of this phone (specs) when it was originally touted. I was one of the first at my local Costco to pick one up with the accessory bundle. I was totally geeked to pick it up. From day one it was a little glitchy... I thought, "Hey, it's no big deal... Look what this thing can do". After close to a year of living with the phone I've grown to dislike it...not hate. I've followed all the news on how the phone would receive OTA updates, blaa, blaa, blaa.... To no avail. Well recently the phone decided to not connect to 4G service no matter what. VZW said this could be cured with a new SIM card. I said ok, send me one. After receiving the new card, nothing changed. UGGGH!! Just so happen my earpiece speaker w...

Since this post, I've received (2) LG Spectrums. WOW, what a pile of dung - is all I can say. I'm going back to the Bionic (pretty much my only choice). I'll keep my fingers crossed for an ICS update.

Problems With My Bionic -- Help!

I have my E-mails forwarded to my Bionic; however, I find that I do not get any notifications when my phone is asleep. Once I start to use the phone to make calls or answer a text, then a whole flood of E-mails comes in. My previous Droid -- the Droid X -- notified me whenever I got an e-mil, even if the phone was asleep. I tried a complete re-install, but the problem persists. I have my phone set to check for E-mails at the shortest interval possible (every 15 minutes), but my phone can be asleep for an hour and a half and I still won't get any e-mails until I waken my phone and check for E-mails, or make a call, or send a text.
I also find that sometimes when I get a text, I will continue to get a notice that I have a text even a...

Got my Bionic last night

So far,
I like it. I have no problem with the screen. I am keeping my fingers crossed about the battery.

I can follow up now. This phone has some weird problems. Most of the time, I can't get a signal, and I live in a good signal area. I get out of memory error messages sometimes when downloading an app, the gallery app does not work as well as on the or...

I no longer want the Lemon Bionic, what are my options

I got this phone on the first day it came out, so its too late to just take it back. However, I think it is a lemon, I don't want to wait for a November fix that might come and that might work, and I am paying for services that are not functioning (i.e. data).

Do I have any option for getting rid of this awful phone?

If I break my contract and pay the $350, could I get a new contract? That might be cheaper than paying full price for the new phone.

Shame on Verizon and Motorola for putting out and selling this phone, and for advertising 4G data that does not work on this phone.

Cancel.
Pay ETF.
Wait one week.
Call VZW "Win Back Team".
Start all over.
It is possible they waive/refund the ETF you paid.

live wallpapers

I've got the bionic and I'm using a pretty sweet looking android live wallpaper now. My phone has been running perfectly fine and smoothim just curious to see of anyone here has used live wallpaper and you're thoughts on it for the bionic...considering it has 1 gigabyte of ddr2 ram and the dual core 1 ghz processor. Thanks in advance for you're responses.

Touch Screen Resposiveness

I too have been waiting for the new Droid Bionic to launch for months and it's finally here. I go into the Verizon store to check it out and the touch screen still has the same issues as the Droid, Droid X, and Droid X2. That is the responsiveness. Very disappointing touch screen! There is a little test that anyone can do to test the responsiveness of the Bionic screen for smooth fluidity. On the Droid Bionic just go to any screen that allows you to scroll up and down and take one finger on your hand and slide it back and forth quickly up and down the scrolling screen in a repetitive motion about 10 times quickly. You will see that the screen will slightly freeze and get stuck at times when this is done. If you do this same test on an identi...

I'm glad you to see the flaws in this phone as they had plenty of time to make it a perfect phone. Why don't they test and fix problems before releasing when they had much time with this phone. Mine goes back today and I will use my Revolution until I...

I am sorry to disagree with you, but the Bionic's screen is both fast and smooth. I have tried your "test" of scrolling the screen and mine never slows down or locks up...I'm not really sure what that proves anyway in everyday usage. It's hard to de...

Phone is Junk

The Bionic is just as bad as most phones Verizon sells. The back cover is so flimsy and the camera is garbage so after 3 days I am taking back and getting an Iphone. After so many months to work on this phone i'm really ticked off..
Good, buy you iPhone and leave us alone; spread your hatred and trolling somewhere else.

Quality of Movie (MP4) or Netflix Playback???

Based on the different reviews I have seen from different websites, I'm hearing that the Picture and Video quality is grainy. How does this affect the User's Browser Experience?

Also, if you playback a movie (copied movie - MP4) or stream a movie from Netflix, how is the quality on your phone?

I was considering on buying this phone, but now I'm having my doubts. So your input will help with my decision.

I was also considering on waiting for the iPhone 5, but if they don't support the 4G LTE ... then Bionic may be my choice.
Buy it. It is a great phone with great screen. If you don't like it- take it back.

Wireless issues

I'm having issues with my Bionic and Wifi connections. When it's connected to my wifi it doesn't seem to talk over that connection at all and the only way to get it connected to the net is to turn off wifi and go to 3G. Anyone else having this issue or know of a fix for it?

Anyone work for Verizon?

I have found conflicting information on the fact that this phone is allegedly a 'World Phone', meaning that it should have a GSM radio in it. Obviously, on PhoneScoop, it says that there isn't a GSM radio, but on phonearena, and the FCC's page (Bionic Manual) it says they have the 'World Phone' capabilities.

Anything from someone who actually knows?
It is sadly confusing, much like the Droid2/Droid2 global there is a Bionic AND a Bionic Global, a different version.

Though in this case no spec differences other than GSM capable radios...
...
the bionic and the photon are mirror images of each other. The only thing is the photon is the 'world" phone operating on cdma, gsm and wcdma
Yes, the phone will be world capable as soon as Europe and China set up thier LTE networks which is happening as I type this.

Does the Bionic have an LED notification?

I'm still on the fence about upgrading or waiting on October/November releases. . .

Although I really like having an LED notification light to get a visual clue of messages, e-mails, texts, etc. Does the Bionic have an LED notification?

I don't think Samsung builds them into their phones.
It does

Pentile Display?

Really, Motorola? You couldn't figure out how to fit 540x960 REAL pixels into a 4.3" screen when Apple has been pressing 640x960 into a compact 3.5" package for almost a year and a half?

Give me a break... And I thought I wanted this phone.

☹️
Neither can anyone else, by the way, at least outside of Japan.

Neither company actually makes displays; they just buy what's available from display manufacturers. Samsung and LG do have display divisions, but Apple doesn't, nor Motorola, not HTC.

How To

Can we have a how to section here?

My biggest problem with my Bionic is the keyboard. I liked the one on my original Droid better. The one on the Bionic does not give you feedback for the letter you just pushed, it just lights up. The Droid would repeat the letter and that was a great confirmation. The other thing the Bionic does not do is advance to the next word if you choose the word they offer as the type ahead. With the Droid, there was always an added automatic spacebar after this, with the Bionic, I have to hit the spacebar to advance to the next word. If there is a setting for this, I have not found it.

For whatever reason, I find I make more typing errors on the Bionic keyboard than I did on the Droid. When I gave up my slide...

Where is the keyboard version?

Well, after looking on all the Droid's, I was expecting a nice, physical keyboard, like the Droid 3.

A physical keyboard is very important to me, as no virtual keyboard comes close to actual keys.

And that's besides that PCWorld are bashing the LCD on this new Bionic, which I hoped will be superior of all Motorola's.

Now I will need to wait again. So, Motorola, what's next??
