this is a sham

Yes it may be better for consumers as far as productivity and and connection but what about the price of the product what happens if the deal is able to move forweard in the future. What then happens to the price i believe it will sky rocket seeing as how att and verizon will now own the biggest share of the market and are already the highest priced carriers sprint will then be forced to sell out cause lets face it about 17 percent of the market cant compete this should never be allowed to go through. Best intrest of the consumer come on now this is a smoke screen. Lower the price thats in the best intrest and that will never happen
By eliminating T-Mobile, AT&T just made Sprint the only low-priced contract provider in the industry. I have T-Mobile because of the customer service and the low prices, and if I am not able to keep my pricing with the merger I will look for another l...

How exactly...

Will this merger create jobs? Every other time we have seen a merger there is always a loss of jobs through the closing of retail stores that overlap in areas and through the shutting down of call centers. This one doesn't seem to add up for me.

My guess is ATT's spin out of this is it will create jobs as opposed to ONLY ATT's workforce. Otherwise, there will definitely be a loss.
I think the same way that it will "increase competition". It won't. Talked with a current TMO call center employee here in ABQ who said they would be getting bonuses to stay on with the new combined company. Personally, I think this is a "window-dr...
That's about as ethical as renaming a 3G network 4G....
I have theorized that ATT may argue to the FCC that the creation of jobs will be done by adding additional stores and staff in rural areas to accommodate the extra subscribers acquired.

Why I think this will not work:

1) ATT will not be extendin...
Your 100% correct it causes loss of jobs and they outsource to India
Let's face it, the only folks at T-Mobile that are going to keep their jobs are the ones that have kissed the right ass over the years. The rest will be collecting unemployment.
its going to be very intersting to see what happens where..

i think a lot of people from T-mobile usa will lose their jobs as AT&T have a lot of union jobs.

Here's an idea. ATT just fix you're crap!

In my area for as many years as I can remember ATT's voice & text have been fine. But their data is hit & miss.
On the other hand T-Mobile recently has made leaps & bounds of improvements to their network, as with them I pretty much get full bars all the time and speedy data.
And I'm not even in NY, which I'm sure has something to do with why ATT doesn't improve anything here, not enough complainers.
Now I like TMO, like UMA, like their phone selection, like their prices. But I'm currently with ATT. So, wait it out and hope with the buyout things will improve, switch to TMO for possibly their last few years in bussiness? Then jump ship when ATT messes things up, prices go up, takes em' even longer to roll out LTE? Confused
i kinda agree with this.

Interesting stuff

i read some of the documents and have enjoyed it. hopefully they will release more documents and we will be able to analyze it more. its always fun reading these papers.
Yeah, I love a good realistic fiction story too. Grishem rocks, AT&T, not so much... Wink

No fear for Big Red

I see more people switching to Verizon because of this than staying with TMO and moving to ATT.

Thoughts? said:

Either that or they'll jump on TMO now to get their price plan grandfathered. An...
Being an AT&T or VZW customer is the same thing. Same high *Bleep*ing prices. If someone has been a T-Mobile customer all this time it would make MUCH more sense to leave for Sprint. Both have the same footprint. It's not like a T-Mobile customer ...
I see a lot of small and mid-sized businesses as well as individual users going to Sprint because they won't want to pay AT&T prices.

The only valid arguement i see here is that it will not create more jobs. yes it is possible that a lot of people will loose their jobs because of overlaping issues and too many employees.

as far as pricing, why complain. if you already have your plan with tmo then u will be able to keep plan and also still change plan to get addictional minutes or less minutes with the same tmo pricing. i still have my alltel plan and vzw cannot make me change it. i can change my plan at any time to increase and decrease minutes and add a adictional line to my acct. i don't see why complain about pricing because its not like your goign to change carriers every year or so. nroaml people keep their number and carrier unless there is a coverage issue or an...
Well worrying about people losing jobs is a big deal. With unemployment so high to add to it just so a company can make an extra buck is wrong. And second the issue is the lack of GSM based competition would make it a problem. It is no different the i...

Eliminating a competitor increases competition every time, LOL!

Yeah right AT&T!! You Neo-Cons who feel the government should NEVER DO ANYTHING, need not comment. I KNOW, it is socialist & part of a "progressive plot to destroy America as we know it" to prevent shared monopolies like this, or repair crumbling infrastructure & provide healthcare to the destitute/seniors, regulate or test anything like water supplies, etc. Let's keep the government OUT OF THIS & put our TOTAL focus on the freedom of foreigners who hate us like as is written in our constitution!
BTW-Nothing against Republicans at all. I vote that way often. Just hate hearing mindless dribble spew from people that I've heard already on Rush Limbaugh. That always seems to permeate these forums on this proposed merger. Rolling Eyes
Libertarians practice that view much more than "conservatives". And Libertarians are found on both conservative and liberal sides of the political spectrum. So saying "Neo-cons" need not reply to support their view of government getting out of the w...
Of course the government should stay out of everything and just let the giant corporations do as they please without oversight or regulations. Giant corporations are your friend. Giant corporations know what's good for America and can be trusted to ac...

Typo in filing

Should read: It will create more money for Jobs. Meaning Steve Jobs, as it will bring more customers to AT&T and give them a more chances for iPhones and iPads sales.

Hello Canada

AT&T will become Rogers there, and we know Canada had the most expensive data in the world.
Once the merger goes through, USA will have the world's most expensive data!
Imaging that, you have to pay $10 for ONE AND SINGLE BYTE!

It doesn't matter

It doesn't matter what we say or think. We have no input for any of this. We don't have the money to make our voices heard, we don't have the right name or political power to make a dent into this.

AT&T will get their way. It's easier to buy out someone with towers than to build their own. I've seen it happen in my home town. I loved Edge wireless and at&t bought them out and screwed everyone. People lost jobs, customers were lied to and angry. That was a good time for me to be working with Alltel. Then the same thing happened to me, lost my job and now it's happening again.

Cell phones are not a 'right' mind you. It doesn't matter what we think. Those with money make decisions that effect us.
Cell phones are not a right. I can agree wtih you there. But the airwaves that they run on are publicly owed. We own them. Without those airwaves then these companies are nothing so I believe that it does matter what we as the owners of the public air...

Its really sad this is happening. Im a big fan of T-Mobile. I used to work for AT&T and I know their peoblems as a company. If this merger goes through we can say goodbye...

Goodbye to free tether.
Goodbye to no dropped calls.

The merger will also...

End world hunger, bring peace to the middle east, bring gas prices back down to $2 a gallon, end the mortgage crisis, end genocide, stop global warming, fix Japan's nuclear plant, increase the value of the dollar, and make Burger King create commercials that are slightly less annoying then they are now.

This is a joke. AT&T knows what it is doing, and so does everyone else in the wireless industry. Let's just hope the FCC sees that too.
Laughing @ Burger King comment.
*Bleep* $2 a gallon. I demand that they bring them down to $.79 a gallon or NO DEAL!

Why do you have to cross a horse and donkey to produce a mule?
There is no other way to produce a mule. All mules are sterile, meaning they cannot reproduce.

Hopefully this merger will produce a better mule.

So last year...

...ATT was telling everyone how great their system is, and now they tell the FCC what a POS it is and that's why they need to buy another carrier.

Apr 21, 2011, 3:44 PM

Notice they don't say anything about how it will help consumers with pricing... only network issues... Looks to me like At&t is almost admitting all of their network issues. But it's just that .... THEIR network issues. They don't have to screw the rest of the US to fix it!!
