There seems to be a tacit acceptance and acknowledgment that the technology to be used by LightSquared is a "done deal".
The FAA has requested the FCC put a stop, at least temporarily, to the LightSquared technology deployment due to concerns of interference with GPS signals now being used almost exclusively by the General Aviation and Commercial Aviation communities.
To that end, the FAA is requesting that the FCC perform more thorough and sophisticated testing of the LightSquared technology and spectrum usage prior to final FCC approval.

That crossed my mind a while back and I had kind of forgotten about it. At the time I found it potentially worrisome for them, but maybe something has been addressed already that I missed?
