Aliph Jawbone doesnt work with Moto Q due to modified bluetooth, gee thanks Verizon

It appears good ole Verizon did something different with how the bluetooth works on my Silver Motorola Q (yes I have the most recent software updates from motorola)
Even though Aliph says on their site the jawbone doesnt work with the Q, I wanted to try anyway.
When I purchased it at the verizon store, I asked if they knew any problems with it not working with the Q, they all had blank stares (gee thats nothing new)
The Q and the Jawbone will answer and end a few calls and let me voice command start a new call, but after a few uses, it starts to get buggy.

The Jawbone itself is a super awesome headset.
However, since the Q doesnt work with it, I have to return it. I'll buy a jawbone in 6 months when my new every two option is up and I...

Also, to add to this post.
I emailed Aliph support and asked if the firmware on the At&t jawbones was different from the
firmware on the Verizon jawbones, it is different.
The Verizon model has "optimized code for CDMA phones" so there is in fact a...

Thank you Moto Q, now rest in peace, Helloooo HTC-5800

I ordered my HTC-5800 today, should arrive via Fed-Ex by Friday, I cant wait.
I'm going to re-purchase a jawbone again from the verizon store and finally will have a phone the Jawbone works with. Plus I got a nice new phone too. I will miss you Q, you were good while you lasted. Hopefully you can make someone else happy after I post you to ebay and craigslist.
If I had my way I would switch to At&t to get a
Q9H but I am tied into Verizon for a while.
oh well.
I'll miss you motorola Q, sniff sniff, bye bye's.

Enabling EMS

The microsoft website gives the following instructions for enabling EMS. However, I do not think I am doing it correct. Can someone explain exactly what they did
To enable EMS processing support:

Register the COM component's GUID by creating the following registry key, and giving it the following name/value pair.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\SMS\Text Shared
DWORD : EMSHandlerInstalled = 1
Okay well this reply is ages lates and I'm sorry about that...However I may have found the answer...first I downloaded a .cab file to tweak registry keys on the Q i beleive it PHS Registry...its at

Volume on Media Player

Hey gang - my earpiece volume is all the way up, as is the Media Player volume... but it's still quiet as hell.

What am I missing? My ringtones are plenty loud when I get a call, so my speaker appears to be working fine.

Suggestions??

Thanks in advance.
I did not know that hell is QUIET 🤣 😉

For real, have you tried another earpiece? is it the one that came with the phone? Is it bluetooth or wired?

Key guard, silent with alarm, ring & vibrate

can you set an automatic key guard after a certain amount of time?

is there an option to silence all except alarm?

can the phone ring and vibrate?
Mess with the profiles. I have mine set up so that it will only vibrate at night when I sleep but the alarm will still go off in the morning. Under the profiles you can set up for all the things you want it to do.

Pairing with TomTom 720

Does anyone have any advice on getting this phone to make a bluetooth connection to a TomTom 720? It seems that some people have been successful, but not me.

Thx,
Joey

Storing Phonebook in Car Bluetooth

I cannot get the phonebook to store in my bluetooth in the car. It only lets me enter a few and one at a time. Isn't there a way to get them in all at once? (the car is a lexus if that matters)

Moto Q vs BB 8830?

I am considering each of these phones and have done some considerable research, but it seems that once I have my mind made up as to which one to get I come across a few bad reviews and I'm back to square one.

The big thing for me is justifying the difference in 1) cost of phone $299 for the 8830; $179 for the Q and 2) cost of data package $39.95 for BB and $24.95 for the Q.

They both seem to handle email, appointments, browsing equally well.
Battery life advantage goes to the 8830.
Additional storage - BB (4GB), Q (2GB)
MP3 ringtones - equal
Bluetooth - BB (v2) Q (v1.2)
Email - have an exchange server and a bb server at work - both of which I have access to

Acticesync wont be a big player for me as I will be moving my lap...

Don't everyone reply at once 😁
Don't know much about the other stuff by I use a 4GB miniSD in my Q and it works just fine.
I've had both the q and the 8830, I've also had the treo 700p and the 755p... The best out of all of them is..... the 8830! Now I had the Q and it was just horrible, constant hard and sofe resets, pulling the battery out, losing information... I mean ...

moto q vs bb 8830

i need a phone that has emial and a good os that i can manage my schedule. im looking at the new BB or the Q. i knwo the q has had a bad rep, but i have read how to fix most of the problems.

i dunno if the bb 8830 is worth the extra $100 since i just dont need the pop email, push is fien by me. but how bad really is the batt life on the Q? i also never had a bb, so im not familiar with their os. and i love the windows os, had the mpx220 and loved it.

anyone else caught inbetween the 8830 and the q like me?
I got my Q last year when it first came out and have gotten three reconditioned ones since! I don't receive my calls...can't make calls without shutting it down and restarting...loss of battery for no reason...messages arriving 24-48 hours after bein...

Email Question

Ok so...here is what I was trying to do, I guess there could be all types of reasons why but lets see:
I created a ringtone 30secs and 590k. A friend wanted it (she is with att/cingular). So I tried to send it via MMS and it said it was too big to send it that way. So, I emailed it to her (mms.att.net) but she never received it.
Has anyone had this occur?

Here is another problem:
Ok so I get an email that has picture attachements (lets say 3) and I want to forward it. When I forward it...only the first attachment is sent. What is that all about?

Thanks for anyone that can help ...appreciate it!

Bluetooth

Hey guys...just a tid bit of information in case u didn't already know:
*You can listen to your music or the radio through your bluetooth.

Also: When the phone rings it plays the same ringtone that you have set for your phone as opposed to just a jingle.

I don't know if it's only because my bluetooth is also motorola but it works and its very convienient. I used this same bluetooth with and LG phone and this wasn't possible.

Anyway...hope this was helpful or at least interesting!

Viewing .tif files?

My company's starting to use a service to foward incoming faxes to a supervisor's Q. The file comes in as a .tif file, which the Q says it can't read. Is there any way to convert these files, or to make the Q capable of reading them?

Pressing #

Has anyone else experienced this problem: When I call my bank or any other automated business when it asks me to press pound I usually can not. At first I thought it was becuase I was not hitting the "ALT" key to change ...but no...is there some way around this???

My dad had a problem like that, turned out he was not on the call status page when he was trying to hit the # key. It only takes input for tones/keypad entries when on that page while on a call

Animted gif's?

Ok, so I know the Q supports "gif98a" and "gif87a", but how do I get gif's to animate on the Q? It's got so much storage, and a nice big screen, it's such a waste that it can't play gif's.

Any ideas?

How do I stop the Calendar from dleting history (?)

If it's not a recurring appointment it deletes after (what I think) is one week. I sync w/ Outlook and all works well there - looked for option settings on both the phone & Outlook and don't see a setting that will prevent this. I want to keep my Apt history. How?
assuming your not on vista, on active syn, tools, options, highlight the calendar, hit setings button, set to 6months on drop down window.

Best of luck...

Moto Q powering down?

I need help, I have a moto q that verizon just fru-ed out for me. I got the new one up and running, it's syncing with my emails no problem, but every 30 minutes the thing powers down. I've gone through all of my settings and they are set the same as my old phone. this thing powers down, i power it back up and the battery is fully charged. any ideas?
Whoa crazy! sounds defective.
Mine does it when I am using data through what ever aplication (short of explorer) at the time. It is a conflict for me between my streaming of data and my settings to check for email. if I shut down automatic pop email checks I dont crash and power...

Text question on the Q

When receiving a text is there any way that the txt alert can be silenced?? Like if you go into a meeting and forget to silence the phone and you get a txt how can you shut it up in a hurry?! I can't find it anywhere...Please help.
Thnx!! 😕
Go to your Profiles and then edit the particular Profile your using at the time. There is a setting in there that will help you out. You just need to turn the volume down.

Good Luck,
Ubie
