I think everyone needs to shut up already!

I think all of you complaining about how AT&T is going to be " to big " should just shut up already. This is a business and life ran around making money! AT&T shouldn't be punished in anyway just because they were smarter then the other phone carriers & bought out TMO. Sorry that Sprints services suck so bad that this for sure will make them the bottom of the list. With AT&T & TMO merging together; it'll be LESS expensive & have a BETTER quality of handsets! Think about that. It's TWO companies merging together. They won't need to raise any prices, because they will have a combined customers ALREADY! I think this is the smartest thing for both carriers. I thin it's hilarious that people find it the problems of higher end companies, or compan...

I must agree. As a T-Mobile customer and employee I just don't see the point in all of you complaining. Hell us at T-Mobile don't even know what's happening yet, or what's going to happen so chill out. It might turn out to be the worst mistake ever or...

True, AT&T is a business and it should be looking to make the most money it can. However, there are rules that all industries must abid...

I don't buy this for a second and neither shoud any consumer

This WILL result in less consumer choice, higher prices, lower quality of service, and higher prices. Rural America will be hit the hardest - as if you note in any propaganda that AT&T put's out they are only referencing the top 20 markets.

This will also put the fate of Android in some shady hands. T-Mobile has been a balancing force and has proved to be a very viable competitor. Everyone needs to come together and try and stop this. Stay in the loop at http://www.facebook.com/saveourdroid
I don't see it doing anything short of driving competitors to become more innovative.

I see prices dropping, customer service improving across the board and more customer choice as competition grows STRONGER through innovations like lightsquared a...

Screw rural America, tired of them bitching. As far as innovation, you think the US is the only place on earth that uses Android OS?? And even so, there seems to be a big trend from AT&T towards Android.

And please, DT is hardly the saint you see...

i agree that this will result in less competition and higher pricing among the major carriers. is it the end of the world? probably not, but at&t is a few steps closer to another antitrust lawsuit....it will happen again someday just like it happened ...

Bad for consumers

This merger would be bad for consumers. As soon as the the deal is done AT&T and Verizon will have more than 80% market share. This will drive up prices and decrease competition.
You do realize that there are *still* providers like Cricket and Virgin Mobile right? There would be a HUGE exodus. Instead, one provider here will nickel and dime their way down till they're cheaper, then the next will have to move down to compete, e...

I'm out of contract with TMO. So I'm going to either your cell company or Sprint lol. Maybe yours will have 3G where I live!

How long before I have to choose a more expensive plan for the same level of service?

You know it's coming. It happened with AT&T Wireless, [Dobson] Cellular One, and some Alltel customers.

From the T-Mobile FAQ:
Will my rate plan change because of the acquisition?
We will honor all customer contracts entered into before the change of ownership.

It seems to me they're implying that after your contract ends, you will have to choose a current (and almost certainly pricier) plan and replace your SIM card.

Demand Pentaband!!!

Demand that T-Mobile carry Pentaband HSPA so it will work on AWS as well as 850/1900 (and international to boot.) Then there is no fear of it becoming Edge only...
