As long as we keep talking LTE to Clear...then YES.

...if we decide to run both Wimax and LTE, say Wimax for embedded devices, and LTE for phones then I'm all for it.

Wimax is not on vendors priority list anymroe to manufacture for, considering all the carriers in the US and most of the carriers abroad are deplying LTE.

Ergo, leave the Wimax to the laptops and stuff, get LTE up for phones.

Staying with Wimax now not only hurts us, but continues to hurt us, and when Clearwire goes under from no extra financial backing then it's bye bye Sprint 4G...period.
Its okay... if Sprint managed to stay a float after posting net losses for so many quarters, then I don't see why Clear can't do that as well lol.
...
The article seems to think LTE isn't exactly the open option...

“every option” for Sprint’s future involves the wholesaler and fourth-generation WiMax technology.

Oh the humanities!!!

I do not even want to think how phone prices, plans, etc., will suffer because of this. Subscribers are shafted enough.
Maybe in the long run phones will increase in price.

Maybe.

However for right now just because Hesse said we are moving forward with WiMax and Clear as a partner I doubt it will sky rocket.

Also, while I would rue the day that they announced...

Stringing Clearwire on...

I think he is just stringing Clear on for a while until they merge with T-Mo or make a clear no pun intended, path to LTE with T... and saving clear as a plan B...

Are they crazy!

WiMax sucks!
I've never experienced any better speeds than 3G with WiMax, it can't penetrate buildings very well, it chews up your battery, and if you get a 4G phone they strap on an extra $10 charge for this crappy excuse for high speed data! 👿
This is most defiantly Mr. Hesse's fist misstep in awhile.
I'm just pissed that I'm locked into a contract for my Mi-Fi and live in a crappy WiMax coverage Area when the other carriers have better high speed coverage. ☹️
I think the 2.5 GHz frequency is more to blame than the technology itself.
...
Mi-Fi is 3G only. What does that have to do with 4G or WiMax?
...
I am a happy user of sprints WiMax. I used to have not so great service in my building. Then when sprint fired up 4g my 3g service got a huge boost. I am using my evo right now as my main ISP. I just did a speed test and this is my result.

Why Sprint?

You would think that AT&T would be in talks with T-Mobile USA, both are on G network againSM networks. Maybe AT&T isn't allowed because they're in the hunt to be the largest network again.
No way the FCC would allow that to happen. After 2012 when a Republican is (likely) back in office then sure.

Right

No comment. As long as the rumors help the stock price.
Stocks are for greedy people in lower Manhattan. As a consumer I care about speed, speed, and more speed. So long as the rumors result in more speed, then I'm happy!
