T-Mobile Internet Plan with MDA

The T-Mobile rep at the local T-Mobile store just told me that in order to use the T-Mobile Internet on this phone, I need to upgrade my $19.99 plan to the $29.99 plan. Is this correct? I have the original $19.99 unlimited plan (w/o hotspot access) and would like to keep it at this price since I don't care about the hotspots.
Keep your $19.99 data plan to see if it works. Hotspots are not a big deal. IF it doesn't work then think about switching, but to me in my opinion they are the same thing without the hotspots.

I just got the MDA today. I'm in Seattle, WA. Basically I decided to sign up for the $29.99 data plan (aka total internet) because they told me (and I really looked into this) they will not sell me the GPRS/EDGE only plan ($14.99) it has to be a com...

MDA vs 8125

I've had both phones and I consider them to be the same thing, different shell. My question is this: why is there instant messaging built into the 8125, but not the 8125? Is it a company thing, or HTC's idea?
it's T-mobile's idea to put the over sms IM.

Cingular 8125 Back Cover missing

I lost 😢 the back cover to a Cingular 8125 and am hoping that someone in these forums has a cover available (perhaps their phone was damaged etc).

If you have a cover available and wish to sell it, please let me know. 😁

MDA not recognizing memory card anymore?

Has anyone had a problem with their MDA not recognizing the memory card? It would happen then I would restart it or take the battery out and out it back in and it would recognize it again. Now its not recognizing it anymore. Anyone had a problem like this before? 😡
That happened to me, too, last week; but in my case, it was only the card itself. Thankfully, I had a spare! 🙂

Google Maps

Has anyone gotten Google Maps to work on the 8125 (www.google.com/gmm)? I got the program to load, but it locks up everytime I try to input a start and end point for directions. I have a co-worker that has the same problem. Thanks.
Works fine for me. I just d/l'ed it and booted it right up.

MDA GPS?

So, TMob just put the MDA back on thier online store for a cheap 80 bucks with new contract. I ordered one this morning, and was wondering if it has GPS capabilities.

Thanks.
If its the same phone as ATT 8125 that I have I
use a bluetooth GPS (any Bluetooth GPS should work mine was around $80). I use Delorme Street Atlas and a golf scorecard / GPS program called mscorecard with my 8125 and bluetooth GPS. Works GREAT.

Opera Mini on MDA

Has anyone else have trouble getting Opera Mini on the T-Mobile MDA?

When I go to the Opera Mini website, it says that my phone model cannot be detected. But I can download the High or the Low memory versions, both of which the phone cannot recognize the file types when I try to install it.

Has anyone else had this problem? and if so, how did you resolve this?
opera mini runs through Java on every device i've put it on. the mda doesn't have java, so that is why your device isn't recognizing the programs. i believe u can use opera mobile, but that version isn't free. its probably worth the $25 they ask for ...

unlocking 8125

Does anyone know how to unlock this phone
without paying the $65 tax to other companies?
If this is just a software modification, what
exactly are the technicalities? How is this
done? Is some information on how to do this
on the web? If yes, can someone point me
to those web pages?

Also, what is the cheapest place to offer
unlocking this phone?

Thanks for your help.
Do a google search. One of the K-Jam support forums had a note from a user who unlocked their K-Jam/8120. I think it involved registry changes. You'll probably pickup some broken cingular features. Make sure you can live with those before going do...

wifi?

does using the wifi from my home network go onto my plan?
It shouldn't, wifi is seperate from using the edge network for data transfer. Think of it as using a laptop to connect to the internet wirelessly when you use the wifi on this phone.
you have a plan? Is it for world domination? 😁

Stopping ringtone in headset?

I love the bluetooth headset but I hate that it is playing my ringtone in my ear and not on the phone. How can I disable the ringtone from being played in my ear and just let it play on the phone.
Update:

I figured out how to stop the notification in my headset. Now I'm just wondering how do I stop the voice from telling me who's calling and just let the ringtone play.
I'm having trouble getting it to ring and play music through my bluetooth headset.

Any suggestions?

Password Protected 8125 Help!!!

I'm trying to install windows mobile 6.0 for a friend on their 8125, but the phone is password protected. It will turn on, but before you can do anything, it requires a password, and since he doesn't remember it, I can't connect it to ActiveSync to do anything. Could anyone help me? Does anyone know how to get around this? Any help would be much appreciated.

mini SD limit?

Is there a limit to the size of mini SD card the MDA will recognize?

I keep hearing people using 2GB cards but I have seen 4GB cards.
I think you are referring to SD cards, not Mini-SD cards which are slightly different beasties. The largest Mini-SD cards that I am aware of are 2gb. I could be wrong though.
