As far as I can tell...

This update seems to be for press preview units only (although other sites have sent word of a non-ota copy that is circulating the net and able to be installed on consumer handsets) and not for the general masses, then again, maybe they've broadened their push, who knows? All I want to know is when this is going to be converted to droid compatible.
Yeah!!! Droid 2.2!!! I really do wonder how Vzn is going to deal with this wireless tethering. It can't possibly be that easy and simple. Menno seeems to think it's not going to be that long, but I'm not getting my hopes up for this happening in a tim...

Good for them.

Now the only three people on Earth that own a Nexus1 can surf the web no holds bar before HTC EVO owners. I can't wait when HTC EVO also receives its update, it'll be frosting added on.
Did you already pre-order yours @ Best Buy?
More like a half million... which isn't bad considering most were purchased full retail price, the phone had 0 advertising, and it's soul purpose was to be a test of concept, and be this years Android development phone...
First, a lot of people bought that phone. Second, its Google's phone, so it would get the update first. Third, HTC said the EVO would get the update before year's end.

The Real Story

To clarify, the OTA that has gone out went to media review phones and Google employee's only. Some people managed to get the download link outside that OTA sphere, and have passed it on.

I will say that it does have a noticeable speed increase, and so forth. But this is not a fully stable OTA, IMHO. I think we are still a week or two from the real deal. As it stands, what I have is great, but there are enough bugs that it is clear it isn't mass market ready.
