AT&T lost

The iPhone exclusivity will no longer be an issue with Verizon Wireless. Look for them to lock up a deal just as long as AT&T has.

And the Voyager?

Android is likely always going to lag behind the iPhone as an overall package- the best it can hope for is Number Two as opposed to Number Three where it currently sits. Let's be honest, every single Android phone up to this point...

Why Verizon's Droid Isn't an iPhone Killer

On paper, Verizon's Droid by Motorola seems like it should destroy the iPhone. Its 3.7-inch 480x854 display is dumbfounding compared to Apple's 3.5-inch 480x320 screen. It manages to include a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, yet at 0.54-inches it's scarcely thicker than the iPhone's 0.48-inches. It has a turn-by-turn GPS right out of the box, while the same feature on the iPhone will knock you back an extra $100. Yet, all this is not enough for the Droid to earn the status of "iPhone killer." For that, it will need to rob the iPhone of its customers, and it won't come even close.

Sure, the Droid's 5MP autofocus camera with a flash bests the iPhone's 3.2MP. Sure, it has an SD card slot, and a removable battery. The iPhone has neve

Yes, but Verizon has a captive audience.
That is when the LTE iphone comes to Verizon.

Then ATT will look like a sinking ship with rats deserting it. LOL

Until that happens, ATT is living on borrowed time.

No UI customization on a Verizon phone?

That's awesome!
? 2006 ? I don't follow your comment.. UI customization has been unlocked on Verizon for almost 3 years now

Who would you like to see make out with this phone?

Would it boost sales? Who would you chose? Will this phone kill the iphone? Will Motorola screw up another product? Will heated tension arise from apple and Motorola (apple use to have motorola make it's hardware, then realized they had crappy hardware so ditched them and now make better products FACT google it)
I would like to see Katherine Heigl make out with this phone. I think that would make it HOT. LOL 😁

It's so hard to make your mind up

when your out of contract and eligible for upgrade with verizon who has the coolest phone ever, and t-mobile has the new $59.99 for 500/text/web plan. what does verizons comparative plan cost for this phone? $79.99?
Well if your interested in Tmo's plans, isn't the Moto Cliq an oh right handset? There's also the Samsung Behold II.

No, I don't work for Tmo, I was just say'in.
...
A Nationwide Select 450 with Unlimited email and web would be $89.98.

There's a chance

Motorola is back. 😲

The phone provided excellent call quality, even in a New York hotel lobby full of noisy Phillies fans headed to Yankee Stadium for the World Series. Parties on the other end of my calls reported no problems

Anybody

Got $800 to spend?

I briefly thought about it but figured even out of contract it'd be about $300 less from VZW.

Verizon's iPhone Killer Do Jour....

And it'll fail after people realize for the same price they can buy the real thing.
on a network that doesn't work for a huge chunk of verizon customers. ATT's network is pathetic here in pa once you leave the city
for the same price they can get a device with 3 mega pixel camera with no flash. a device that doesn't multitask. a device with a locked OS as opposed to the open platform that is Android?? Personally I wouldn't pay 50 bucks for an Iphone.

No need to make comparisons

There is no need for the flame wars between Appleheads and VZfanboys. Droid looks nice and anyone who purchases this phone make sure you download the Sherpa app. It is the best app on Android Marketplace in my opinion 😁

My Tour just got shelved

Well, I love BB as much as the rest of 'em, but this phone has seriously got me drooling. Great specs, great early reviews, and a fantastic open source operating system. I really can't wait to actually play with one of these bad boys!

Chris
I have to agree CwCanty. I have traveled around (within the cellphone circle) and tried a few different hand sets recently. The iPhone, the Instinct, the Touch Pro 2 and now the Storm. The Storm works so well that I have been heard saying "BB is a all...

Well I got some Android useful info

I saw a video of someone installing the Android in a HTC HD & works perfectly, the ones who done this they going to release the phone models that are capable to have Android on them, I leave the link:

Anyone with an existing Android device and a nasty case of DROID envy today might want to hold off before switching devices, emptying the bank account, and possibly switching carriers in the process, because HTC's got a little bit of information here ...

CDMA

Since the Droid is a CDMA phone, can you unlock it and run it on Sprints network?
Nope. The ESN is not in Sprints systems.

iDon't...

...trust a damn thing that Motorola makes until I've actually used it. These phones could have the best specs in the world, but Motorola has a way of failing at most things they do.
Optimist.
Very wise...
Very true. I find it hard to take Motorola serious with their phones. Now walkie talkies are great.

Finally announced

Now all I have to do is to wait till stores have it and then see if I can convince Verizon to sell it to me at a contract price even though I am not eligible for an upgrade yet.
its cool..but i like the sense ui on top of android. but we will see. its cdma so ill just get one and put it on sprint. i have the hero now and i love it.

Google Maps Navigation

My biggest question right now is: Will Google Maps Navigation incur an additional monthly fee, like their current GPS turn-by-turn option? If so, that might be a deal-breaker for me. Does anyone know the answer to that yet?
Nope!

Iphone CDMA

If the Iphone was orginally CDMA only, would people still have the same problems for the Iphone not being a global phone as they are having with the Droid not being a global phone.

Plus it does suck that there are no GSM radio's bc I would have picked up an unlocked version
Even if they'd made a CDMA iPhone, Apple would have also likely produced a GSM one for the international market. Whether they would have included 850/1900 on the GSM model, would be the question.

The real point is that you don't base an ad campaig...

iPhone

iThink we may have our first legitimate threat to the iPhone 😳
The G1, the MyTouch, Touch Pro 2, the Hero, the Palm Pre, the Storm, the Cliq, the Moment, the Touch Diamond 2, the Imagio and many others have already threaten the iPhone.

The iPhone is just so conceded, it hasn't realized; and its nap by the tre...
