Once again, the Nazi run TLC telling cabbies how to live...

I feel bad for the NYC cabbies. Think about what they go through.

Think about it this way, every year, you get a merit increase in your sallery. It may not be much, but even if you work at Mc-F'in-Donalds, you're going to get SOMETHING even if you're really crappy at flipping burger.

Do cabbies? Nope. Unless the TLC says so, and the last time they did it was a while ago, and before that, I can't remember.

Also, because they're all indipendant contractors, they don't get sick days, or benefits. Sucks to be them.

Also, thanks to Bloomberg, before their choice of cars was pretty restrictive, but he's forcing all cabbies to drive hybrids by the end of this year, changed from a mandate of 2012.

They're also mandated to work ...

Its alright, I'm a limo driver

Back in 2000 - 2004 I worked at a hotel, limo drivers carried 2 cell phones, taxi drivers had cell phones. They were constantly on them, it is their business lifeline, connected to: airport, other hotels, other cab drivers(usually directions), and customers(scheduling, come pick me up). I have to say they were all handsfree, before bluetooth, and had one or two wires clipped to their lapels.

I have to honestly say this is bad for their busniness, but I do understand the driving aspect as well. Since I called my regulars so often I would have to say it would hurt my business to not be able to reach them as well. I'm against this, sorry New York.

Cash CAB>?

How is this going to effect that show? I mean the host is reading questions to the passengers while he is trying to navigate the busy NY streets. Its ok to read off a screen but its wrong to talk on the phone?

isn't the Taxi Commission a Mafia front? They become a "Commission" by breaking knees and shooting up houses, right?

Does Anyone Remember...

...that taxi's had CB radios in their cars for decades?
The difference is they weren't having lengthy conversations on CB, since everyone with a radio could listen in..

I still think it's a bad law.. talking on the phone isn't what makes it dangerous.. its finding it to answer it.. dialing.. etc..

Legit Question...

They are banned from all forms of communication via cellphone, whatever...
Are they still able to use the 2Way radio built into the dashboard? because that is just as dangerous as using a cellphone, worse actually if they have to change channels because their eyes are completely off the road!!!

Sounds like a great idea!

Maybe they can expand this to everyone!
Seems redundant.. it's already against the law in the People's Republic of NY to talk on the phone while driving..
