Finally...

an Android device on a worthy network. I see bigger things coming from the Android platform now. This is a very good thing. Sprint is a joke and T-Mo's 3G network is pretty much non existant.

Motorola ...

If this phone is a Motorola then I would advise you to lower your expectations.
I would say the same.. BUT apparently Google had their hands in every step of the design process, so as long as Motorola didn't pull the same "production by the lowest bidder" crap, this could be a "hail mary" phone for them like the Pre was for Palm...

I was SO excited to hear VZW was getting an Android phone, and then deeply saddened to hear that it was Motorola that would be developing it. After almost four years in the wireless industry, I have no trust left in Motorola.

This is like coming d...

It's like admitting their strategy has been a massive failure...

So let's see, in 2007 Verizon Wireless's iPhone killer was the LG Voyager.

In 2008, it was the Blackberry Storm. People found out a Blackberry with a touch screen slapped on doesn't make for a very good device.

So the past two years later being behind the boat of marketing failed "iPhone killers" , we now have the Motorola "Droid."

in 2009, it's an Android handset, which is now chugging behind Palm's WebOS and the iPhone as a mobile smartphone platform. On top of that, the hardware is by Motorola. See Phone Scoop's most recent review.

Gee, I wonder how this will turn out.
the droid is the first phone Verizon's ever really pushed as an "iphone killer" the storm and voyager were put there because they were touch screens.

The voyager is a dumbphone, the storm had potential but blackberry couldn't leave their business ...

I feel the device pushed, will not deliver. The reviews have not been stellar. I feel the only reason the "Droid" will do well is because of marketing. But once put into the hands of users, I feel a disappointment will emerge. Laggy interface, overwhe...

Nice!

Another pot shot at ATT & the iPhone. ๐Ÿ˜ฒ
I thought it was kind of lame. I don't think any handset has done any damage to the iPhone by telling phones what the iPhone CAN'T do. This will be no different. I think the reason the iPhone commercials are done so well is because they focus ONLY on ...

DROID is trademark of Lucasfilm Ltd

๐Ÿคจ
As in "These arn't the droids you're looking for."

George Lucas most likely has the name "Droid" trademarked.
Do I see a marketing idea?

why this will never work

this will never work as good as a phone... never as good as this one https://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p =886 to be honest with you. this has everything youll ever need in a phone and even comes with a flashlight. if flashlight is too much, then this is the phone that will always beat any smartphone, pda https://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p =29. everyone should get this phone while they still can
You are joking, right?

oct 30 release!!

Wonder why is saids November, I have infact confirmed it will be released on Oct 30. It was easy to find out, just change your system clock to Oct 30, and go to droiddoes.com and you will see that the counter no longer countsdown. then change it to Oct 29, and check, its still counting!! I CANT WAIT TILL OCT 30!! I Want My Droid!!!
The reason they say November is probably the fact that Oct. 30th is so close to it.

Irony much?

The site is blocked internally here at VZW. Lol
Give it some time. It takes awhile for new sites to be approved when you are talking about corp firewalls.

Countdown decoded

So anyone notice the repeating patterns in the bottom of the VZW page?

2 digit day, 2 digit hours, 2 digit minutes, 2 digit seconds

I come up with 00:00:00:00 happening at midnight pacific time on Friday, Oct 30th.

Right now, it's 8:08 pm on the west coast and the count down is reading 12 days, 3 hours, and 52 minutes.

You can double checking this...notice the last digit is always changing...this is the seconds. When it hits "0" the next digit will be "9" and the tens of seconds will decrement by one. Follow the patterns a while and maybe you'll see it, too.
