Apple pushing the limits of vertical integration

What is missing from this discussion is that Apple is pushing the limits of permissible vertical integration between iTunes & iPod. If iTunes continues to be the de facto online music store, then Apple will have to follow at least one of two courses of action:

US &/or EU regulators will not forever allow Apple to dominate both online music store & portable music player markets and use exclusive vertical integration between iTunes & iPod to lock out would be competitors.
