Who cares...

I'm sure everyone within a 1/2 mile radius won't mind going out and buying Femtocell's for their house or using a wifi based voice system (Skype) to make calls everyones happy that way-

I'm happy because crime lords can't talk with their contacts outside of their supermax prison, the family that wanted a cheap house next to a supermax prison can still use Skype to make wireless calls.

Before you start complaining by saying "people shouldn't be forced to buy a Femtocell in order to have wireless service!" my response to that is

Keep your home phone, your cellphone is NOT a necessity its a luxury!
That they choose to pay for. You people really sound uneducated. If a serial killer/rapist has a lil girl pinned in a house and cut the phone line and she has a cell phone and cant make calls to 911 then what sherlock? Mad
My response to you is get over yourself. I haven't owned a landline in six plus years. How about we tell the wardens no.
There is... to many things wrong with this and not enough things right.

For starters, you just increased the sales and income of Femtocell. Why? Do you work for them? Why do i have to change my service provider? why do i have to download, install, ...
Just 1 more thing.... what about the staff? You realize that if your husband works at a prison and you need to reach him about a accident that happen at school with your child, you wont be able to. At least, not on his cellphone.

Ignore that, lets ...

How many of you...

Have actually had any experience with prison? Been a guard, inmate, visitor? Some of the comments here obviously are coming from people that have no idea how prisons work. Heck, even if you've watched a documentary or two on History, Discovery, or True TV, you'd be better informed. Comment below if you've had experience in prisons.

I've been a volunteer music leader at a few different prison worship services. Short of shotgun certification I have about the same training as a guard.

It's funny that ...

... the prisons can't do their job and control what comes in and out of the jails, so (potentially) others (those who live near a prison) will have lousy, or no, cell service. Way to go, prisons! Rolling Eyes
No, actually it's funny that a person with no idea of the difficulties and complexities of a job will accuse people of not doing their job because they're not 100% effective.

Should airport security be denied X-Ray and metal detectors because actua...
FYI- Most prisons have civilian employees (counselors, clerks, healthcare staff etc.) Some prisoners (many) are sociopathic and 'seduce' & recruit from the civilian crew. Xrays and cavity searches have not been SOP for civilian staff. That may have ch...

You know there are ways around this... tin foil. Let's just microwave everything that comes in or out of the prison. That way it will fry any electronic that comes in, like lanudry and stuff... but you can't microwave the human's..... yet Twisted Evil
That is easy to fix, let the public know around the prisons that they will not be able to send or receive signals. The prisoners don't deserve to get cell phone signal for any reason and that just means that the taxpayer and the company that owns th...
You know there is a easy, but perhaps more expensive way around this. I remember first seeing this on Mr. Wizard (in the 80's) on TV and later learned about it in college physics class. Build a Large Fariday box** around the prison (** a copper mesh...

Just Remember...

Any idea in this world that culminates into reality, will most likely be countered by an Iphone application. How to block signal blocks? There's an app for that. Download it to your Iphone today!

Seriously though. Why call it a "Cell" phone if you can't bring it into a jail cell? Just a thought.
comic relief mode ?... Razz
