Amazon Launches Web Site for Wireless Phones
Good Prices...but with a catch
Their contract states:
"The purchase price of your device reflects an equipment discount of $250 per device that has been provided to you by AmazonWireless based on your agreement to (a) activate a new, or extend an existing, line of service in connection with this device, and (b) maintain this service with the selected rate plan in good standing for a minimum of 181 consecutive days.
By accepting this equipment discount, you agree that for a period of 181 days after your new equipment is activated, you will not:
disconnect this line of service
change your service plan to one with a lower monthly rate (e.g.: from ...

Unemployment
One bad thing about buying on amazon is if you buy the phone, its shipped, you have to wait, and it might get damaged along the way. If there is a problem with the phone, you have to send it back, wait about a week, then get another phone back, if you past the 30 day return policy and something goes wrong, some stores can't help ...

This is a major win for consumers, and may force the major carriers to reduce MIRs to only high end phones, and be willing to eat more of the phone costs, or maybe just jack costs up for indirect age...
