its about damn time!

at least ATT knows their network is experiencing trouble all across the US. I know in Seattle everyone who has ATT absolutely loathes it. why it took them so long to take action is beyond anyone 🙄
If they loathe their service why are they sticking around?

they have been saying they would do this forever now... i'll believe it when i see it~

I'm in Seattle, mine works fine -- I don't loathe it...
Try Verizon, Sprint, or Tmo in the Southeast. Honestly if I am in Charlotte, Atlanta, Louisville, or Cincinnati, At&t's network is far better than Verizon's.

And Apple isn't bringing the iPhone to Verizon, Verizon just wants you to think that bec...

They Can add Phoenix

Dam why not Phoenix; coverage out here SUCKS beyond all....I get my text messages a day late and half the time I get weak signals around the valley, and I have an iPhone... 👿
They also need to turn on that dam picture messaging and tethering for the iPhone now and stop screwing around. Cant believe there this far behind and yet they expect us to pay our bill on time. B.S. 😈
AT&T does not have any Cellular 850 MHz spectrum in Phoenix, only PCS 1900 MHz. There will be no W-CDMA 850 in Phoenix.

Tucson Sucks Too. I guess Phoenix and Tucson are not considered big enough cities in AT&T's view.

Not just Phoenix but AT&T 3G coverage sucks in the whole state of Arizona and the entire Southwest US.

They need to improve Chicago's coverage.

Because it sucks here. Really badly. I've called in and complained about their poor coverage and all I get is apologies. Quit apologizing and get those lazy technicians out there to fix the damn towers!

Rip Off

How can they get away with ripping off the consumer like this? Selling 3G phones and not being able to provide you with 3G service. Obviously they have the FCC in their pocket.

Good cause their 3g suck!!

Out of the big three... At&t has the worst 3g network!!
In your area they might but overall we have the best 3G coverage.
...
I live in Las Vegas, AT&T 3G works just fine here.
...
I live in wichita ks, and get great coverage here. 3G is good also.

I need clarification.

Rich, if you read this, could I get some clarification on this. By reading this article it seems like AT&T will add new 3G 850MHz cell sites. I thought AT&T was going to allocate 3G to the 850MHz band, meaning just moving it from the 1900MHz to the 850MHz.
They will be doing both. In areas where AT&T holds a cellular license, they will transition their PCS 3G network over to cellular. Also, in areas that really have poor service, they will be adding brand new towers. I believe these towers will be a com...

It's probably a combination of both. Planning a network with good coverage is quite complex.

Because the 850 and 1900 MHz radio bands have different natural properties, you need more towers to cover the same area with 1900 than you do with the 850 ...
